It depends on what the immigration is intended to achieve! If "working" means to create a deracinated multicultural melting pot then yes it does work. But if it's to solve economic problems and skills shortages, it doesn't have a good record. Sweden is in the EU so it can have unlimited workers from other EU countries. Plus it's had mass immigration from outside the EU too.
