Thanks for that, I could have done with this a while back when I was trying to explain the principle here before.

Its a very simple scientific experiment anyone can do at home. 😉

When water freezes it expands and increases its volume, but the amount of water stays the same. Actually if anything, the more ice there is in the ocean, then that should theoretically increase sea levels, so if anything as the oceans warm and the ice melts, we should technically see sea levels lower slightly.

Just to add to the above, yes there are also large volumes of frozen water on our planet which is not already in our seas and is trapped on land. Glaciers are basically large frozen rivers, as they slowly thaw, some water will trickle down into the sea and join the ocean, but don't forget that water is also absorbed into the ground.

Obviously if there was some massive 'flash' heating event that occurred which caused any glacier to 'instantaneously melt' there would be a big risk of some localised flooding if that 'new water' couldn't drain away fast enough. The thing is though if such an event were to occur, the heat would probably wipe us out first, we'd never know by how much the sea levels eventually rose!

I've heard it said we are the most studied creature on the planet and this confirms it with their never ending propaganda and non -sensical policies.

Which means they think population are stupid beasts of burden and lambs to the slaughter

Just seen a BBC documentary on the Great Barrier Reef, first broadcast in 2018, in which BBC nature presenter IOLO WILLIAMS was surprised to find that the Great Barrier Reef had recovered from the extensive damage (supposedly) in 2016. ("Wonders of the Great Barrier Reef with Iolo Williams", BBC 4). He still managed to blame climate change for causing some of the damage, but didn't adequately explain how the reef had been able to recover.

The issues isn't the sea ice.its the ice on land that would increase sea levels.

Greenland however will rise several metre's when the ice goes we can all go and live there

Seriously if in the unlikely event that happened all though we would loose land. The habitable land in the world would increase as long as you don't mind living in Siberia

I often wonder who lives underneath Greenland and other parts of North underground

I loved this man's nature programs as a child. His enthusiasm was endless. He did what true teachers do. He inspired.

Regarding the ice/snow on the land, this would only cause an issue if there was a sudden and immense increase in temperature that caused all this ice and snow to melt instantaneously and turn into water. Yes, instant flood, and sea levels rise as the formerly frozen water rushes down into the seas.

But if you look at glaciers, consider them as 'frozen rivers'. And don't forget that water expands as it freezes, so the volume of water actually carried in these glaciers will be less than it looks.

Also consider that as glaciers slowly melt, a lot of the meltwater will naturally just soak down into the ground too.

Think about the number of times you may have had a huge amount of snowfall in your garden, yet your garden doesn't get flooded when the snow melts away.

Ice needs to melt because it's forming new ice on the top... It's a cycle...

I always get a kick from the new activists  moving into the area from the city ,a lot have big yellow "climate action now" signs  stuck on their rubbish bin.

What a bunch of virtue signaling prats , they have done nothing for the environment except stick a sign on their bin to make themselves feel good but don't have to actually do anything. It's lost on the idiots that they are still putting crap into land fill by having a bin .

When we go into town and chat to people if they happen to reveal they are green or climate change pushers I get a kick out of yanking their chain,I'm usually in the poop with the missis for doing it ,but I cant help it,I'm polite but I just point out facts that in their mind does not compute. Last week was a beauty  one bloke stormed of red in the face with the shits,I copped an elbow in the ribs by she who must be obeyed, what did you do that for ,I said I didn't start it.I would have let him off  but out of the blue he started on Ukraine and Russia,I said where did you learn that,on the news he said ,I said I haven't watched the news in about 15 years, his reply "maybe you should ,you might learn something".

That's like waving a red flag at a bull so I thought your fair game you bastard,so I give it to him on the Ukraine,9/11 and climate change, He tried to get away a couple of times but I kept going.

By doing this I believe it makes me more spiritual, in fact I must be getting closer to god ,I know this because when some people see me walking up the street all I hear is oh christ
