December 2010 was the coldest since 1890 and the second coldest december on record.. Record cold is still possible if we have the high pressure sytems centered either over scandinavia or greenland as whats happened last fortnight.. Looks like warming up sunday monday,I was hoping the cold would persist.. May come back to being more average maybe below.. But it has been a record warm year until this month never known trees kept leaves on so late before until severe frosts hit them hard.. And while both the Sahara Desert and the continent of Antarctica are massive areas of land compared to the size of the UK, despite the small size of our islands, the weather varies a great deal here. If you want to know what the weather is going to be like where you are, then look at a weather forecast website for your local area. They panic over nothing these days It was quite remarkable here in south Birmingham, when I got up on Friday morning, the snow was coming down quite heavy and my garden looked like Antarctica - by 4pm the sun was shining and most of the snow had gone. But this is what we have to look forward to now: any "warm sunny" day is now a "heatwave" according to the media and their 'experts' at these forecasting agencies, who can't correctly forecast next week's weather, let alone three or four months ahead.
