Here's the stickler though:


If you have registered a National Data Opt-out, NHS Digital won’t share any confidential patient information about you with other organisations unless there is an exemption to this, such as where there is a legal requirement or where it is in the public interest to do so, such as helping to manage contagious diseases like coronavirus. You can find out more about exemptions on the NHS website.


So while COVID is a thing, even if you are opted-out your information can still be shared because 'coronavirus'.


Oh and not to be too pedantic, since when was coronavirus a 'disease'?

I know someone who works in the NHS and apparently a lot of people are bringing the forms in and are not happy about it. From what I hear a lot of the staff aren't either. 


I have signed the online opt out. But was also told to send the form in by hand also. So would encourage everyone to hand one in to their gp practise to make sure.
