She has been sharing updates on her husband's health after the former political lobbyist turned psychotherapist was hospitalised with coronavirus in March 2020. The virus 'wreaked havoc' on his body, leaving him in a coma before he had to spend more than a year in hospital. He returned to the family home in April 2021 where he receives 24 hour care. While Derek, 54, had made progress, Kate, 55, has told fans Derek's battle is far from over with his continuous trips to the hospital of late. The flowers are blooming, fruits growing, leaves dancing in the breeze." She then added: "Am sure there’s a message in there somewhere for how life finds a way, and I certainly feel better for being in amongst it.
