Grumpy Owl
ITV pulls final episode of Viewpoint tonight after Noel Clarke allegations Quote ITV has pulled the final episode of Viewpoint from tonight's schedules after allegations of misconduct against its lead actor, Noel Clarke. The actor stars in the thriller as DC Martin Young, a surveillance detective who sets up his observation post in the home of a single mother. The five-part drama was broadcast throughout this week and was due to conclude on Friday night, April 30. Twenty women who knew Clarke in a professional capacity have come forward with allegations in The Guardian, prompting ITV to announce it will not be broadcasting the final episode but will make it available on the ITV Hub. Clarke has "vehemently" denied claims of sexual misconduct. The channel said in a statement: "ITV has a zero tolerance policy to bullying, harassment and victimisation and robust procedures in place to investigate and deal with any complaints. "We strongly believe that everyone deserves to work in a supportive and safe environment. "In light of the very serious nature of the allegations against Noel Clarke raised by 20 women in the Guardian's report, ITV has decided it is no longer appropriate to broadcast the final episode of the drama Viewpoint on ITV main channel this evening. "We are mindful that some of our viewers have already invested four hours of their time over the past four nights in following this thriller which was due to conclude this evening, and they have yet to see the final episode. "As such, we plan to make it available on ITV Hub tonight for a limited time for any viewers who wish to seek it out, and watch its conclusion." From: https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/news/showbiz-tv/itv-pulls-final-episode-viewpoint-20505039 There's no details on what the apparent 'allegations' involve. But how kind of ITV to make the final episode available online, though they consider it 'unacceptable' to broadcast it on ITV1. Whatever happened to "innocent until proven guilty"? Grumpy Owl
Just to add to the above, I'd just like to point out that if there is merit in these 'allegations', and Mr Clarke is ultimately found guilty, then he does deserve punishment. But as I have pointed out elsewhere, anyone can make 'unfounded allegations', but until evidence has been presented, and the 'accused' given an opportunity to respond to such allegations and evidence, is it really fair to just 'come down like a ton of bricks' on people and cancel them in this way? Perhaps I could go running to the Guardian, and make claims that Boris Johnson once touched me inappropriately, would that mean that Boris could get 'cancelled' as Prime Minister? The reaction from ITV, BAFTA and Vertigo is unsurprisingly expected, given the current #MeToo and post-Sarah Everard climate. But I wonder if the 'woke-left' is also battling to come to terms with the fact that Noel Clarke is of course a black (BAME) person.
Anti Facts Sir
Speaking of Sarah Everard, one of the news channels played a montage of clips to go with this story and I swear I saw her included in it. Was her case referenced in the series, or did she have a role in one of his programmes (she's still listed on imdb.com as an actress)? The woke agenda only has to breathe on you in a mild manner these days and you are cancelled forever.

She will have been most likely mentioned because the media is now all about "keeping women safe", so Ms Everard will forever now pop up whenever there are allegations of men mistreating women. Its a shame that the media et al weren't that bothered when people were coming forward and making allegations about Jimmy Savile years ago, or the Rotherham grooming gangs as another example.
greatdayforfreedom
Jimmy Savile never saw a courtroom, a judge or jury, he wasn't proved guilty, and yet, he was guilty.
Grumpy Owl
OK, so I've just looked on the Guardian website to try and understand a little more about this, man they are really milking / going to town. https://www.theguardian.com/culture/2021/apr/29/actor-noel-clarke-accused-of-groping-harassment-and-bullying-by-20-women Quote The Guardian has spoken to 20 women, all of whom knew Clarke in a professional capacity. They variously accuse him of sexual harassment, unwanted touching or groping, sexually inappropriate behaviour and comments on set, professional misconduct, taking and sharing sexually explicit pictures and videos without consent, and bullying between 2004 and 2019. OK, so this doesn't look good does it? But then again, no-one made any complaints, or had their complaints listened to up until now? The 'woke-left' are once again seeing their ideologies 'collide', and this may well end up being their undoing. Some telling comments left on the Birmingham Mail article I originally saw (link now added to OP!):
