Suspected China spies had high-level UK government access – Sunday Times

A man who was detained and then released on bail was reportedly linked to high-ranking Tory MPs

A researcher working for the UK House of Commons and a second man were arrested in March on suspicion of spying for China, the Sunday Times has reported.

The researcher reportedly worked on international policy and had ties to several “senior Tory MPs,” some of whom had access to “classified or highly sensitive information,” the paper reported on Saturday. The man’s contacts were said to have included Minister of State for Security Tom Tugendhat and Alicia Kearns, chairwoman of the parliamentary Foreign Affairs Committee.

In a brief statement, the Metropolitan Police Service confirmed that in March a man in his 30s was arrested in Oxfordshire and a man in his 20s detained in Edinburgh, both under the Official Secrets Act. “Searches were also carried out at residential properties, as well as at a third address in east London,” the Met said. Both suspects were released on bail until October.

Met’s Counter Terrorism Command, which handles espionage-related crimes, is investigating the case.

“While I recognize the public interest, we all have a duty to ensure any work of the authorities is not jeopardized,” Kearns said, declining to comment on the matter in detail.

British drop criminal probe against Russian billionaire – Bloomberg

The UK National Crime Agency was investigating alleged sanctions evasion by London-based businessman Mikhail Fridman

The UK investigation into alleged sanctions evasion by Russian billionaire Mikhail Fridman has been dropped, Bloomberg reported on Friday, citing a spokesperson for Britain’s National Crime Agency (NCA).

The agency had been investigating Fridman, the founder of Russia’s biggest privately owned lender Alfa Bank, over an alleged loan payment from his bank to his executive assistant before he was sanctioned. The prosecutors accepted that the search warrant contained “technical errors.”

“The NCA can confirm that it will take no further action against Mikhail Fridman based on the warrant executed at Athlone House in December 2022,” the spokesperson told the news agency. “Inquiries are ongoing in relation to associated suspects who fall under the wider investigation.”

In December, the NCA publicized the raid across social media with a statement and a picture of officers inside the tycoon’s home.

According to the agency, over 50 officers descended on Fridman’s mansion in north London and arrested the 59 year-old businessmen, removing “digital devices and a significant quantity of cash.”

In July, Fridman claimed during a court hearing that the raid was illegal and relied on “kompromat,” including a 15-year-old report that made a series of unproven criminal allegations.

Philanthropy and initiatives

In 1996 Fridman was one of the founders of the Russian Jewish Congress,[9] and he has been an active member since then,[206] including having been its vice president and head of its cultural committee.[37] He is a major donor to the European Jewish Fund, which promotes inter-religious dialogue.[9] In 2007,[207] Fridman, along with Stan Polovets, Alexander Knaster, Petr Aven, and German Khan, founded the Genesis Philanthropy Group, whose purpose is to develop and enhance Jewish identity among Russian-speaking Jews worldwide.[208][207][209] The Genesis Prize, which the group founded in 2012, is a million-dollar annual prize for Jewish contributions to humanity.[208][9] Fridman was also one of the major funders of the Holocaust memorial project at Babi Yar in Kyiv, Ukraine, which was launched in 2016

In May 2017 Fridman, along with fellow Alfa-Bank owners Petr Aven and German Khan, filed a defamation lawsuit against BuzzFeed for publishing the unverified Steele dossier,[231][232][233] which alleged financial ties and collusion between Putin, Trump, and the three bank owners.[234][235] In October 2017 Fridman, Aven, and Khan also filed a libel suit against the private-investigation firm Fusion GPS and its founder Glenn Simpson, who had commissioned former MI6 agent Christopher Steele to compile the dossier, for circulating the dossier among journalists and allowing it to be published.[227] In April 2018 Fridman, Aven, and Khan filed a libel suit against Steele in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia,[236][237] but the suit was dismissed with prejudice the following August.[238] Aven, Khan, and Fridman then brought a lawsuit for defamation in Britain against Orbis Business Intelligence, Steele's private intelligence firm.[239][240][241] The trial started in March 2020 in London, with Steele arguing the claim should be dismissed as the subject matter "fell within the remit of national security".[242] In July 2020, Mr. Justice Mark Warby in the Queen's Bench Division of the British High Court of Justice ordered Orbis pay $23,000 to both Fridman and Aven in damages,[243] after Steele claimed they had delivered "large amounts of illicit cash" to Vladimir Putin when Putin was deputy mayor of St. Petersburg. Warby stated that the claim was "demonstrably false" and awarded the damages to compensate "for the loss of autonomy, distress and reputational damage caused by the breaches of duty". The judge also stated that Steele's dossier inaccurately claimed that Aven and Fridman provided foreign policy advice to Putin.[239][240][241][244] Fridman testified in the proceedings that he had never been asked by Putin to perform political favors, with Warby agreeing that "in the context of his position as a businessman, the idea of [Fridman] doing Mr Putin's political bidding makes no sense."

Thanks, I've done a little bit of number crunching of the three countries; Russia is the least fertile and has the lowest population density. So by the economic logic Russia should be taking in most migrants, but we know it's not just about economics.

I was watching james delingpole speaking to brian gerrish of the ukcolumn last night and brian was saying that he believes that russian oligarchs have been funding the uk conservative party and that putin has pushed these oligarchs out of russia. Delingpole then asked if he was speaking about the 'khazarian mafia' but the conversation moved on with that question unanswered.

On one level this makes sense of the push by the likes of boris to support the ukrainian war against russia but i just feel that there is a deeper level to all of this and that putin is not a saviour who is challenging the power of the evil western banksters

The BRICS organisation was created by those same western banksters and china is obviously central to the whole thing and china has clearly been built up by the western banksters to be the testbed of their technocratic system which they hope to expand across 'the west'.

so i don't see things as putin v's the oligarchs or nato v's russia. I think it is just sabbateans manipulating white people into destroying each other. It does also achieve other objectives for example fuelling the war machine and also enabling massive money laundering operations and mass migrations and disruptions to energy flows and the supplies of grain etc

Russia Is Fooling Traditionalists

Quote

The same historical pattern

Russia has a long history of attempting to sway European politics and bring the smaller disparate States of the Continent into its orbit. The pattern has not changed, although today’s Russia spreads Communism. The so-called revival of the “Holy Alliance” shows us that while the actors may have changed, the theme has not.

What plan? Why would America isolate itself and weaken its allies if elites didn't want a Eurasianist world order? It's clearly sabotage.

I know Russia and China plan for lebensraum though.

‘New world order’ vs ‘empire of lies’: key takeaways from Lavrov’s UN speech

The US and its allies instigate new conflicts to prevent the emergence of a multipolar world, Russia’s foreign minister believes

The world has a chance to achieve “authentic democratization” in international relations by establishing a multipolar world order, marking the first such opportunity since the end of World War II, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov told the UN General Assembly (UNGA) on Saturday.

The US and its Western allies seek to prevent such a development by stirring up new conflicts to divide humanity and keep their “hegemony of the global minority” in place, he added.

West is the ‘empire of lies’

The US and its allies still reject the principle of equality in international relations, Lavrov said. Americans and Europeans keep looking down on the rest of the world and that leads to their “total intractability” in any negotiations. Washington and its allies “keep making promises left and right” that end up being reneged-on, the Russian minister added.

“As Russian President Vladimir Putin put it, the West is now the real ‘empire of lies’,” he said.

‘Reckless’ Western politicians have forgotten about self-preservation

NATO activities have reached “unprecedented” levels since the end of the Cold War, the top Russian diplomat believes. The US-led forces of the bloc have conducted drills that involved simulating nuclear strikes against Russia, he claimed, adding that Washington is also actively seeking to project its military might in the Asia-Pacific through establishing military-political “alliances” with nations like Australia, South Korea or Japan and pushing them towards closer cooperation with NATO.

Such actions “risk creating a new explosive geopolitical hotspot in addition to the … European one,” Lavrov warned, adding that Western politicians have been so blinded by a feeling of impunity that they’ve lost “the sense of self-preservation.”

True democracy in international relations is within reach

For the first time since 1945, when the United Nations was established, the world has a chance to establish a truly democratic world order, the Russian foreign minister said. The “global majority” – ie the nations of Asia, Africa and Latin America – are increasingly seeking independence and equality, as well as respect for their sovereignty in international relations.

“It is obvious for Russia that there is no other way,” Lavrov told the UNGA, adding that this fact “encourages optimism in those believing in the rule of international law and wishing to see the UN restored to its role of a central coordinating body of world politics.”

West stands in the way of a just world order

The US and its allies seek to stall the onset of a multipolar world order, in particular by “stirring up conflicts that artificially divide humanity into hostile blocs and prevent it from achieving common goals,” the Russian minister pointed out. The West wants the world to “play by its infamous and self-serving rules,” he said, adding that the international community should instead strive for a world where everyone “agrees on how to solve issues together, on the basis of a fair balance of interests.”

Western sanctions hurt the world

Russia is calling for “an immediate and full” lifting of sanctions imposed against such nations as Cuba, Venezuela and Syria, Lavrov said, adding that such unilateral punitive measures “blatantly violate the principle of sovereign equality of nations” and interfere with these countries’ rights to development.

“One should put an end to any coercive measures imposed in circumvention of the UN Security Council as well as to the West’s … practice of manipulating its sanctions policies to exert pressure on those deemed undesirable,” he added.

Russia’s top diplomat also blasted the US over what he called threats against nations willing to work with Moscow.

“It is shameful for a great power to run around like this and threaten everyone and only demonstrating its obsession with domination,” he told journalists after the UNGA session.

Russia’s stance on conflict in Ukraine

Moscow is ready for talks on its ongoing conflict with Kiev at any time, Lavrov told a press conference on the sidelines of the UN assembly. However, Russia will not consider any deals involving a ceasefire, he said, adding that Moscow and Kiev had supposedly almost reached an agreement in the first months of the conflict following a series of talks in Belarus and Türkiye only for this process to be disrupted, supposedly by Ukraine’s Western backers.

“Putin said it very clearly: yes, we are ready for talks but we will not consider any ceasefire proposals because we did so once and were deceived.”

Russia also respects Ukraine’s sovereignty in accordance with the Ukrainian declaration of independence and its constitution, Lavrov said, adding that both documents also declare the non-aligned status of Ukraine and respect for the Russian language and Russian-speaking minorities.

Ukraine’s sovereignty “was destroyed by those who staged and supported a coup, the leaders of which then declared a war on their own people,” Lavrov said, referring to the 2014 Maidan coup.

West is ‘de-facto’ waging war on Russia

The US and its allies are de-facto engaged in a conflict with Russia, Lavrov told the press conference. “We call it a hybrid war but it does not change things,” he said. Western nations are sending arms to Kiev and training its troops, he explained, so “They are de-facto fighting against us with the hands and bodies of Ukrainians.”

Western nations also openly say that “Russia should be defeated on the battlefield,” Moscow’s top diplomat said, adding that Moscow is ready for such a development. “Under such circumstances, [if they want it] to be on the battlefield, let it be on the battlefield,” he said.

For a start, I don't buy this. Western governments have been helping China and Russia become more powerful, especially in the case of China where we sent a lot of our industry. Only traitors or complete morons would undermine the West to the extent that our leaders have.

Western military has definitely caused a lot of bloodshed, but I don't view it as something that was for the benefit of western people, and I definitely don't see a Global American Empire.

Good. I know they certainly don't truly believe in equality anyway.

There's some truth in this, but it's something that goes both ways. Both sides have changed their stances on things because of the other sides actions.

More Noahidism.

All superpowers conduct drills, and would be stupid not to. How did Ukraine disarming help Ukraine, Ivans? Is it just the West that is expected to demilitarize and deindustrialize itself? What's wrong with Anglo nations establishing military alliances? South Korea and Japan also face the same threat as us.

The western world is dividing itself.

If it means less dough ending up in anti-western pockets then I have no issues.

Makes me laugh when the invader that occupies your land talks about negotiating.

As western people, we have a geopolitical reason to support Ukraine, Poland, the Baltic states, Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan. The Kremlin and its networks are de-facto engaged in conflict with us too, so I'm not sure what their point is.
