Two squares on top of one another , floor tiles are usually square , so an 8 pointed star is easy to get perfect ... try doing a 5 or 7 pointed star PRECISELY ...not easy .... Also it appears in things like the wheel of the year above simply because it's what you get of you divide a circle in half , then half again and then half again. What does it mean ??? Everyone has their own idea ... these associations just come from the imaginations of men .... The only way number is expressed in the tangible world that is not open to debate is Atomic Number ...The number of protons in a nucleus give a unique flavor to that type of matter . Matter allows number to manifest qualities in the world we know .... Eight is OXYGEN .... the breath of life , the invisible gas without which we die ...... Don't imagine just because this star appears in a movie or on a policeman's helmet there is some deep occult message ... It's nearly always just artistic license ...
