The reason they are 'using' police officers is that no man can ever be trusted, even if being paid to uphold the law. But they were all too afraid of their 6pm curfew to oblige! So instead they attacked. Ive needed the police twice in my life and hopefully never again but if I knew I was calling on someone with a criminal record or someone that had exposed himself and his colleagues not investigated or done anything about it then the police isn’t what I think a woman thinks the police should be. Nothing would anymore. In the old Saville thread back in the '10s, started by Anders (RIP), there was a lot of info about his links to Sutcliffe, the Ripper cases and so on. It did look as though Sutcliffe was a patsy for person(s) never charged with the crimes. There was even speculation that the part of the lyric to Panic by The Smiths were some sort of coded reference to Saville's involvement in dubious stuff around the North of England. And, given his slightly morbid interest in such matters (see: Suffer The Children, especially) you would imagine Morrissey had done his homework and knew a few things.
