Either through being inquisitive and reading stuff (see: Cloudbusting too), or by the connections in the industry (EMI were part of Thorn electronics). Maybe that's why she retreated as early as she did, and works to her own schedule and secluded in the countryside. I thought the same about this track (and video) when I last played it.
