Valentine’s Day

As I see it, "Valentines Day" has just become another "major corporate event day", where consumers are encouraged to 'buy stuff' in order to prove that they 'love' someone.

  • Buy flowers
  • Buy chocolates
  • Buy an expensive fancy meal in a fancy restaurant
  • Buy a room in a luxury hotel for the night
  • Buy gifts!

Well call me old-fashioned or something, but if I had a partner that I truly 'loved', she would be special to me every day of the year. I wouldn't need to be reminded of this one day in particular to make any kind of effort.

This is all just more 'event-driven' corporate consumerism bullshit. Another date on the 'consumer calendar'.
