Attachment Limit Reached!

Question for the mods @screamingeagle @Grumpy Owl @Basket Case

I have near reached my attachment limit (96%) and I would like to ask if I can make a new account?

I post attachments when I can, (limit per attachment being 48mb) as much is being deleted theses days and I wish for as many as possible to have access to view or download.

I appreciate that the current limit is generous at 488mb and have no complaints but I do not wish to remove any attachments I have added, as then the information is lost (or may be).

Yes, if all members used the attachment limit then this forum would need rather massive servers but I am not using it for fun (I do post some fun images sometimes, or I think so, but the limit is taken up by videos relative to the current covid shit).

I am happy for this current account to be banned so that I have only a single, active account.

I do not mind starting again as a newbie as I am not collecting internet points lol.

I know that I shall lose any access to current PM’s.

I know I will need a new email address.

I just wish to garner the forums staffs stance on the creation of a new account in order to have a new attachment limit?

Thanks for any feedback.

Not the usual kinda ting izzit, but seeing how you're running outa space, coz of your valuable uploads, who are we to argue ?
This isn't going to set a president  precedent though and will be a rare event and considered on a case by case basis.

PM me please
Thanks :O)

Personally, while I am of the opinion that certain material does need to be 'preserved', I would advise members to use their attachment allowance wisely.

Video files in particular take up lots of storage space, so I would urge members to backup and upload such videos elsewhere and just provide links to them in posts, rather than uploading them as attachments.

Managing uploaded attachments is not 'easy' with this forum software to be honest. And likewise, if anything were to ever happen to this forum - as has happened in the past - anything uploaded here as an attachment would likely be 'lost' too.

The other thing that has to be taken into consideration when uploading material here, is the issue of copyright, and no-one would want the forum to fall foul of copyright law if material is being uploaded here without the copyright holder's permission or consent.
