Well as an old school graffiti artist in the mid 80s , i got pulled into hip hop sub culture for a few years , the photo is the front cover of mid week mag , from untold unseen gallery ...

Don't enjoy rap these days but i was breakdancing and bombing way back when ..

Did You do that piece coldrum?  That some of your work?

Whitelines - all time classic - best hip hop tune ever made? I think so - possibly - top 3 at the least. (for me)

(out of likes for now)

EDIT:  I was a breaker too, got very very good at it, dads mono tape player out (couldn't afford a twin deck stereo for ages) Electro cassette tape in, volume up, large sheet of cardboard out, or kitchen lino,  with my mates every night after school.

What about you you seem to have been  on the same musical adventure as me ?

Very similar I think Coldrum,  always been in my family - all my family loved good music, in particular my brothers, always mix tapes being handed round the family from friend to friend so very quickly learnt what was good - always loved a strong melody, and music that had a swift pace.  Strong beats and heavy bassline.
The actual music always meant more to me than the human voice to begin with - although I now feel it's a combination of both.
it was my brother who got the 1st electro probably back in 82 or 83 and after hearing that we were all wanting to start to breakdance and body pop.
We know some good music when we hear it don't we buddy?  🙂
I've always been a highly skilled drawer from a young age - nothing I loved more than art (and music) and more recently got into painting & occasionally selling my own artwork (mostly oils, landscapes, pet portraits and the like, but I've certainly let the art take a back seat since all the nonsense began earlier this year - it's affected my creativity - but that's ok.

Apart from scrawling over the front of my school books - I've never been much of a graffiti artist though mate - which is something I've always admired and wish I got into - I love to see a well constructed and colourful piece, real art masterclass - always been highly impressed at what they can do what they do with a fucking spraycan!  It's no easy feat I bet!

What do you think was your main influence, family and friends or just that it sounded so damn good?

Edit: Yeah crazy legs? - nice one, one of our crews 'handles' was crazylegs.  Brings back good memories of spinning round on the large sheet of cardboard on our front drive.

LL Cool J - rock the bells

Love LL... I know most other rappers thought he was a dick - but he made some amazing tracks didn't he?    Here's some of his slightly later stuff that used to get me and my pals bobbing our heads:

KRS - boogiedownproductions - criminal minded

KRS-ONE with the gobshite known as Tim Dog   (who was a bit of a nobend)  but did some great stuff and didn't mind pissing off all the other rappers (especially the west coast rappers)
