  1. Fuck it.

It’s about being a spectator, being entertained.  The one eating the other is the spectator watching the entertainer who is having the authentic experience (who runs free before him).

“Putting him right into his mouth” is the watcher consuming the free.

“While fantasizing the beauty of his movements” is the second hand experience of witnessing the musicians, actors in the movie, sports players running across the field.  Living vicariously through the other instead of living oneself.

By being entertained we are robbing ourselves of direct experience while consuming those who are having direct experience.  It’s an asinine thing to do, not unlike slapping yourself in the face.

And in doing so we are destroying authenticity until there is none left to feed upon.  Only simulation, second hand experience, and people sitting around slapping themselves in the face.

Picture a stadium full of people slapping themselves in the face.  A country of people in front of their TVs doing the same.

  2. Of Course by Jane’s Addiction

If you are hanging out in here you are bored and can put in your two cents as to the meaning of this song.  I have my idea but don’t want it to influence your idea of what’s going on here.  Thanks if you bother to contribute.

    Lyrics

Of course this land is dangerous
    All of the animals
    Are capably murderous

    When I was a boy
My big brother held on to my hands
Then he made me slap my own face
I looked up to him then, and still do
He was trying to teach me something
Now I know what it was
Now I know what he meant
Now I know how it is

    One must eat the other
    Who runs free before him
Put them right into his mouth
While fantasizing the beauty of his movements
    A sensation not unlike
    Slapping yourself in the face
    Slapping yourself in the face
    Slapping yourself in the face

  3. Why does God xyz?  If God does a. then why does he do b. and not c. (or what I believe he should do)?

Is it impossible to find out?

    Isaiah 55:8-9

“For My thoughts are not your thoughts,

Nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord.

For as the heavens are higher than the earth,

So are My ways higher than your ways,

And My thoughts than your thoughts.”

But maybe some answers can be found after all.

Letter of Paul to the Colossians 2:2-3

“God’s mystery, that is, Christ himself, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.”

I do not pretend to have definite answers to questions such as why is there suffering, etc.

Going back to the garden of Eden, the snake and the forbidden fruit, it could be that God wanted his people to have free will and choose to love and obey Him.  They chose against God and suffered inevitable consequences.

Yet I still believe God is not cruel.  Adam and Eve did get expelled from the garden, but He also clothed them and put an enmity between Satan and the woman and between his seed and her seed.

  4. Oh hey lots to catch up on in here. 😃

    The hero movies

Like Gladiator where the strength of the protagonist comes from himself alone.  Driven by revenge or honor of some ancestor or king, he does amazing feats on his own steam, always triumphing over the enemy.

This is another lie fed to boys and, lately, girls that they can do spectacular things on their own volition.  They do not need God to give them strength in adversity and do not realize when God has blessed them when there is no adversity.

So they grow up with this and many other falsehoods in their minds and they fall prey.

A godless life is like a house left without a protector in the middle of a war.  The enemy comes into the house, ransacks the place, steals, kills, and defiles everything that is of value in the house.

Whoever survives the attack is left broken and scarred, with PTSD or dead inside.

    Lost.

The thing about being lost is you don’t know it, otherwise you wouldn’t be lost.

You may fool yourself that you are just fine, thriving even, on your own strength, but that strength will eventually, inevitably run out.

And without help from a higher source, you will die lost, scarred, fed off of as prey to the demonic forces.

And never having found the real treasures that are hidden on this earth.

I believe they are hidden in certain ancient texts.  I believe they are in some people as well.  Where do you find them?

Anyway, carry on the debate see y’all later. 🙂

  5. Even a scientist, upon pondering the celestial and earthly conditions necessary to make human life possible, has some idea that we are rare and unique beings.

The forces behind the mechanization of humanity have made various attempts to undermine humanity’s specialness, and reassign our status to beneath the animals.

The only thing standing in the way of complete dehumanization of our species is the idea that we can have a meaningful relationship with God.

What is our originally intended relationship with God?  How does He regard us?

    Matthew 10:29-31

“Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? And one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father.

But the very hairs of your head are all numbered.

Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows.”

And how should we regard Him?

    The Shvetashvatara Upanishad

13 “Love the Lord and be free.”
