You make some uncomfortable points here. Africans sold their own people and they were enslaving each other before Europeans arrived. That of course does not make it right what Europeans did; it was evil of course. Slavery as pointed out had been going on amongst people all over the world for thousands of years. In fact it was common. Medieval peasants under the feudal system were enslaved in a way too. Forced to work on the land and produce food for the lords who often left the peasants with very little food that they had worked so hard to grow. Children were forced up chimneys in the 19th century and often died cleaning those chimneys. Most workers lived in filthy slums and were in very poor health. I've read Jack London's book about the people he met and he described how unhealthy they were and the despair and the humiliations of the workhouse. A man could do back breaking work for 20 years and when he became too ill to work anymore from overwork and ill health as a result of all those years was dumped in a workhouse to die. Human history is full of brutality towards the workers from the elites.

Funny you should say that, as I saw an Instagram comment on a friend's page saying there's a group trying to get rid of the police as "they are not needed." Well ok "activists", if you get your wish and the police are taken out of service, you'll get the armed forces instead and these guys are not gonna put up with your shit like the police have been doing! Who could forget the XR nutters and their chanting? I bet more than a few of that lot are involved in these current riots and "protests." Some of these youngsters today are what I call "professional protesters." The government could raise their benefits to two grand a month, give them a free holiday every year and they'd still find something to "protest" about.

Yes, I've noticed this also. The prevailing mood now appears to me that one must be an "activist" and that if one is not, and doesn't want to get involved in "protests" , marching, spouting stuff on Twitter etc then the view is that there is some sort of moral deficiency in one's nature!!! I wonder how many of these "activists" and "protesters" actually treat people around them with respect and kindness on a day to day basis? Help an elderly neighbour for example? Those who do don't tend to go on spouting how virtuous they are and condemning others who live quietly, decently and don't want to get involved with rioting and marching.
