Donald Trump Assassination Attempt
itsnotallrightjack replied to MissHistoria's topic in Today's News
I was not one bit surprised he had someone shoot at him. He's a controversial figure and hated by many. Not difficult to predict that, as much as it's not difficult to predict Joe Biden using the wrong names for the wrong people lol. -
Illegal immigrants working as delivery drivers?
itsnotallrightjack replied to Grumpy Owl's topic in Today's News
Now you mention it, I've had a couple of deliveries from EVRI and they've sent me an update saying who is going to deliver it, with a photo of a Muslim woman (I know she's Muslim because she's got the hijab on) but the person who comes is a man (same man both times). It's probably her husband and they share the jobs. -
Michael Mosley disappeared on Greek island

Last headline I saw was about one of those fellas he is said to have gone off with is a drug dealer. Are we surprised? No. Don't get me wrong, I'm not wishing the lad to come to any harm, but the dodgy company he's been keeping makes it quite likely the reason he's vanished. -

It IS a deepfake/AI generated video. I remember those Elon Musk ones too! -
Michael Mosley disappeared on Greek island
itsnotallrightjack replied to manchurian_candidate's topic in Today's News
It actually wasn't- it's a deepfake AI! Now, as I was watching it something just pinged this wasn't him (perhaps the two cyber security courses I did last year have helped me gain a deepfake/AI pinger ...). After watching it all--then got that confirmed. Diet expert Dr Michael Mosley issues scam warning after fraudsters use AI to sell product. https://uk.news.yahoo.com/diet-expert-dr-michael-mosley-130718538.html?guccounter=1 Kind of obvious though when one gives it logical thought. "AI Mosley" was saying pharmaceutical companies are making money from hypertension patients, then lo and behold his solution is....yes another pill... His actual comments on this subject- have a good guffaw! https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/health/doctor-michael-mosley-reveals-one-31351669 -

I wouldn't have done that even as a daft teenager! Hiking is for cool weather, such as 50-60F, not blazing hot weather. People who go hiking in high temperatures must be lacking common sense. I had a week's holiday in Ibiza in 1998. The temperature most days was 90F. I did have a small walk around the local shops to buy postcards, went on boat rides, and relaxed on the beach, but I drank cold drinks constantly. One day one of the guests in the hotel dropped me off in the old town in her car. I had a short walk round the town ( about an hour, at a strolling pace, looking at the old buildings. I might've even gone to a cafe, but I don't remember ). That day it reached 100F, and there was a little bus back to the hotel. Again, I drank constantly. I never found the heat a problem because the activities were in bursts, with sitting down in between, and constantly drinking cold drinks. This is what most people used to do on holiday as you noted- now they wander off to remote areas with no water! -

None of my brothers resemble our Dad (RIP) but I do. One of my brothers looks more like our (maternal) Grandpa, and one looks like a world war one soldier from Grandad's album (although Dad said they were not relatives, the likeness is uncanny). He and I look nothing alike. He is two years younger than me, and when he started at my high school our classmates didn't believe we were siblings at first. One of my brothers (RIP) and I shared some features and mannerisms, but the other two look nothing like me. Genes are funny things; you never know which ones will show up. It's quite normal for siblings not to resemble each other or for one to look very like one parent but nothing like the other one. And no, my mother wasn't friendly with the milkman. King Charles looked more like his mother's family when he was young, but now he has more of a look of Prince Phillip. He's always had some of his mannerisms. And if you see a photo of Prince George, Duke of Kent (1930s) Prince Andrew looks so like him. And Lady Louise is a dead ringer for her great grandmother, Queen Mary. Prince William got the Spencer genes, but Harry is more Windsor- he really does look like a young Prince Phillip. -

The tourists keep on dying in Greece and her islands. German tourist, 68, found dead on Greek island. Hiker, whose body was discovered near a ravine in Crete, is sixth tourist to die in the country this month amid soaring temperatures. Athens News Agency, Greece’s state news agency, said the area where the 68-year-old was found was so inaccessible that it could not be reached by helicopter and the body had to be moved by rescuers on foot. It was the sixth fatality this month among foreign visitors to Crete and other popular Greek island destinations, following the death of BBC TV presenter Michael Mosley, whose body was found on the island of Symi on 9 June. An 80-year-old Belgian man was found dead near the ancient city of Lato in eastern Crete a few days later, followed by a 55-year-old Dutch man who was found dead in his car on the edge of a cliff in the island’s south-east on 19 June, according to ERT, the Greek state broadcaster. A 74-year-old Dutch man was found dead on the island of Samos on 15 June, followed by a 55-year-old American man near the island of Corfu the following day. In addition, two French women aged 73 and 64 have been missing on the island of Sikinos for more than a week, while a 59-year-old American man visiting the island of Amorgos remains unaccounted for since 11 June. https://www.theguardian.com/world/article/2024/jun/24/german-tourist-68-found-dead-on-greek-island -

Diana hadn't even met Hewitt until the summer of 1986 and Harry was born in 1984. I can see a very strong resemblance between Harry and Prince Phillip. People can often resemble a grandparent more than their actual parents. William, like many men resembles his mother (Diana). -

Very interesting! That was left out in the stories about his disappearance. Sherlock Holmes would tell you that the facts he has a criminal past and has been keeping unsavoury company are keys to him going missing. -

itsnotallrightjack replied to manchurian_candidate's topic in Today's News
That was rather sinister! But who in their right mind would follow a sinister 7 foot dude into an alley.... Most likely a Mosely incident- collapsed from dehydration. The police should follow the birds of prey and the flies. Plenty of crims in the UK! If there's any narrative it's more to do with discouraging flying due to air pollution and environmental issues. Anyway, I'm long done with holidaying. Quite content to go to my local parks for a walk (with a bottle of water!) and visit a coffee shop on the way home. -

Not Greece, but another missing tourist; this time a 19 year old lad from Lancashire has gone missing in Tenerife. Last trace of him was a phone call to "a friend" saying he was lost and thirsty and his smartphone battery was almost dead. If I was a tourist I'd carry a back pack with two charged portable battery packs, not wander off on my own to isolated places, and always take a litre bottle of water and loose change (so as to pay for extra water at kiosks and top up phone credit etc). I don't even go out to my local shops without a small bottle of water! https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-13550201/jay-slater-person-talk-Spanish-police-kidnapped-fears.html -

They've got a giant solar farm in Golmud, Qinghai Province and another one in the Tengger Desert, in Zhongwei, Ningxia, and the world's largest hydro-solar power plant in Sichuan. It's cheaper than their coal fired electricity so that helps pay for the light shows I expect! They've also got a lot of wind farms (more than any other country in the world I read). Not just Birmingham turning off street lights. https://www.theguardian.com/society/2024/feb/26/concern-as-more-councils-in-england-and-wales-plan-to-turn-off-street-lights#:~:text=It has made savings of,with police and local people. -

I didn't see that at all- they looked fine to me. Both William and Catherine were interacting with the children and Catherine was gently tactile with Charlotte. -

It was Catherine. I just watched the live footage on my laptop, so got a close view. However, the footage at the shops with William back in March certainly wasn't her or him! I don't think she's even been in the country the past few weeks judging by her tan! -

Yes, it's been raining on and off for weeks with a temperature around 57 Fahrenheit! Catherine looks very healthy, quite unlike how she looked in the bench video a few months ago. She might have gone on holiday abroad with the Middletons (and her children who also look a bit bronzed). Her hair is as thick as ever and looks like it's been recently coloured (dark chocolatey chestnut shade). I doubt she's having a chemo infusion because there's no hair loss. Probably on a very low dose tablet daily. -

Michael Mosley disappeared on Greek island
itsnotallrightjack replied to manchurian_candidate's topic in Today's News
Aha--maybe you are onto something. Perhaps Michael and his wife, or another person they were with, had a disagreement and he decided to go off for a bit of time out. That might explain why he was ill prepared: no phone and no bottle of water. It might also explain why the wife was very keen to reiterate a lot in the press how good their marriage was (so as nobody would ask if they'd had any arguments before he left, because it would make her look bad, even though he was a mature man and the decision was his to go off on that walk). -

That would have been poor Julian Sands. His disappearance was covered by the press.
