A ludicrous statement. Showing it isn't flat in the first place is THE most significant of all contributions - a thread ender for most with any powers of discernment or integrity. No chance. As I recall, he based his idea on the fact that he showed the Moon must be round by observing the shape of the terminator (the line between the part of the Moon in light and the part of the Moon in the dark) as it moved through its orbital cycle. Pythagoras reasoned that if the Moon was round, then the Earth must be round as well. After that, sometime between 500 B.C. and 430 B.C., a fellow called Anaxagoras determined the true cause of solar and lunar eclipses - and then the shape of the Earth's shadow on the Moon during a lunar eclipse was also used as evidence that the Earth was round. One of the major issues and differences between getting something as small as a Gemini capsule and an extra stage to get a large lander to the Moon with capabilities to get it back is weight. On Apollo 11 they originally weren't going to televise it, then decided on a lightweight system to video and transmit. Now video technology and TV transmission was way different then and also significantly worse than 16mm movie cameras. Gemini used a movie camera. This is enhanced by a very skilful youtuber. The original is a little more jumpy. But if you want to do a comparison, here is movie camera footage (also a little enhanced) taken on the Moon, not transmitted on TV: If anyone thinks that is faked on Earth they are living in cloud cuckoo land. The fact they couldn't do CGI of star wars as good as this should tell you everything you need to know, plus these are really long unbroken sequences, not small edited sections like in all films of that era. Nah, not in the 60s, it's a movie camera in space. I hope I explained it for you, low resolution video was the best they could do in the circumstances and era. There is significant movie camera footage from every Apollo mission.

Why are you posting in every flat earth thread when you fail every post to answer anything! Tell everyone how your out of the box thinking explains these basic and irrefutable things: The Sun sets without any size change and that is impossible in itself. The vanishing point is named thus! The Sun's motion through the sky is the same at every angle, location and time. It NEVER varies - 15 degrees of angular distance per hour. On any map of the flat earth, the two tropic circles HAVE to be different circumferences - the Sun HAS to increase speed for the larger one!! It provably does not differ in speed anywhere, any time. There has been not one iota of scientific measurement that corresponds to a flat earth, including sudden speed changes from the Sun. The Moon is inverted in the Southern Hemisphere. At a range of distances starting with the unfeasible Everest height for the Sun - the horizon is a ridiculous distance away when it sets. ANYONE can take an image through a quality telescope of Mars/Jupiter etc. and see them rotating. ANYONE can take an image through a filter and see the Sun rotating.

The phrase is cognitive dissonance and neither are really applicable. Dissonance is caused by a clash of ideas. I think a better phrase would be complete denial and evasion.

Gravity is considered by many to not actually be a force (although relative to us it most definitely is). But it certainly is not weak. Throw up a medicine ball in the air and let it hit you on the head. Two things will occur. One you will realise that it isn't weak and two it will hopefully knock some sense into you
