Elderly people are still being discriminated against, some with dementia and others with no relatives
standing up for them. My own mother spent a two week period in a "care home" in Spain last month, so I could have
two weeks respite from an all consuming role with no relatives to help me. Before going into the home she
had to have a negative Covid test (which she did) and then spend 5 days in isolation, which turned out
to be 6. Very sadly she was so anxious her blood pressure went through the roof and we spend the most horrific
day in A and E with only 3 doctor consultation rooms in use instead of 8, nasty nursing staff, people shouting and vomiting
right next to us. COMPLETE AND UTTER MAYHEM.
She is home again now the worse for wear and I'm trying to find live in carers in the future to help me when I need
a break.
