I guess it depends more on what you use it for :) I do feel that the light from the screen can hurt my eyes and give me a headache though, could there be any more to this?

adjust you screen's refresh rate, brightness and contrast so that it is more comfortable for you. if these don't work, then you probably need a good sleep :)

right click on your desktop, properties > settings > advanced > monitor

check "refresh frequency" and choose the highest supported by your monitor if it is not being used already (click the "hide modes that this monitor cannot display" box).

your screen may need size adjustments if you make any alteration. you can always switch it back as it were also. the highest refresh freq will eliminate flickering if there is any.

To work on the computer you need to have some time away from it, but mindless surfing is where the problem is. They have done studies regarding this with some students, and after half an hour of on-line surfing that's when you will become disorganised and so on. If spending too much time on the computer lowers the IQ, then that doesn't tell us much. Spending too much in front of a television set on the other hand lowers a person's intelligence I reckon, and that's much worse!!! IQ and intelligence are almost diametrically opposite metrics. :D

Im willing to bet that people who use it to look and study this forum.. Makes their IQ go up! At least Intelligence and comprehension of the outside world... IQ = intellingence quotient .. right?... strange phrase to begin with as i have met lots of peeps who i know have low iq, yet are strangely divine in their own rights...:cool:

IQ and being divine can very well be quite opposite. As I see it, heart and mind can easily be competing, using both in harmony is hard. Something to remember as well is that IQ is measured mostly on mathematical and logical tests, so yes, anything that slows the mind makes your IQ drop. Surfing the Internet probably slows the mind because we need to filter so much data. How many banners and meaningless text do we have to browse through when looking for something on the net? Alot. Really exhausting I would say.

On the other hand, using a computer is usually good for the IQ as far as I know, but it can work both ways I guess.

I believe those with a low IQ might not have so much to hinder them from using their intuition, and therefore might be more connected to the spiritual. Someone with a high IQ is probably more likely to use common sense and logical deduction to find answers.

I think most IQ tests are usually bogus and that doing anything a lot more than something else will, of course, limit your abilities doing other things. Thank you for sharing though.

Hehe :) Yea. I keep being amazed at what we ought to find "entertaining" on TV. We now have the option to play interactive games instead of "game shows", or choose what we would like to see and when to see it. There are even games that will make you better at IQ tests, like Castle and Island of Dr. Brain :) Great classics. Some computer games test our reaction speeds, our awareness, our knowledge and sometimes we might even learn something from games. I like the Broken Sword series. Alot of the game is based on true stories or at least true legends ;) All put together in an entertaining adventure game.

And then we have forums like this one :) There is alot of things that is worse for both our IQ and our actuall intelligence than what a computer can do to you.

sounds like propaganda , its 100% bullshit . through the use of internet i havew become self educated in several diffrent feilds wich havew given me the knowledge on sertain subjects that has enabled me to present arguments to seasonal proffessionals but has also enabled me toexcell them in thier own feild and i have been given real well paid job oportunities wich i have had to decline due to ill health but although my body is sick due to doctors drugging me , it has not stopped my knowledge and capacity from learning to exceed others . i think it should be obvious to anyone that the powers that be know that now the common man can easily challenge authority and so called experts in any feild . i am far from smart and never attended school but in arguments with sertain so called experts in thier individual feild now it is a walk in the park to challenge thier theories and when you attain true knowledge and not the socialy accepted drivel and bullshit , this is indeed presenting a problem for so called experts in many areas . now the assholes are getting worried because the common man can see through thier lies and boil down thier complicated way of speaking into common terms and highlight the fact that the so called proffessionals in many arenas are only using words people dont comnmonly use to make them sound more cleverer and so the cmmon man doesnt know what these dickheads are talking about . its worrying them , especialy doctors .
