i havent read too many things specifically on 2012...
but John Major Jenkins' "Maya Cosmogenesis: 2012" was an amazing read. excelling insight into the mayans and their calendar, and the astronomical alignment in 2012.

That have to be *The Orion Prophecy* by Patrick Geryl, it's very convincing too.
It's about the Pole Shift theory.
Review(from the back of the book):
In the year 2012 the earth awaits a super catastrophe:
It's magnetic field will completely reverse in one go.
Phenomenal earthquakes and tidal waves will completely destroy our civilization.
Europe and north america will shift thousands of kilometers northward and end up in a polar clime.
Nearly the whole earths population will perish in the apocalyptic happenings.
These predictions stem from the maya and egyptians .
They are descendants of the legendary atlantis, which is currently buried under the south pole.
The atlanteans had highly evolved astronomical knowlegde and were able to exactly predict the previous world wide flood in 9792 BC.
They built tens of thousands of boats and escaped to south america and egypt.
The authors launch this world-shattering message after having cracked several ancient star codes (which are over 10 000 years old) of crucial importance to civilization as we approach the year 2012.
In that year Venus, Orion and several other stars will take the same 'code posisions' as in 9792 BC, the year of the previous cataclysm!
But there is more. for thousands of years historical sources have told of a forgotten time capsule of ancient wisdom located in a massive labyrinth.
They speak of secret chambers filled with artifacts and documents from the previous flood.
This hall of records was created , so myth has it, by this antediluvian race and the old egyptians, who held strong apocalyptic beliefs and wanted to preserve their accomplishments and wisdom for posterity.
Patrick Geryl and Gino Ratinckx have established the location of the famous labyrinth.
The authors prove their points with extensive scientific and archeological research.
The excavation of this time-capsule will have enormous archeological and historical implications.
Archeologists and scientists will see it as an invalubal insight into the technologies of a hitherto undiscovered race... if they proceed in time!
I can promise you, if you first start to read this book you won't lay it down:eek:

I have been reading a lot of everything on it as I don't believe just 'one' book will have the answers.
I look at it like a big puzzle that I have to try and piece together. Even in the books that I love I don't necessarily believe everything that is in it, I look for what I believe to be true or probable.
I would start with ..
'The Mayan Calendar and the Transformation of Consciousness' by Carl Johan Calleman
'The Mayan Code:Time Acceleration and Awakening the World Mind' by Barbara Hand Clow
Happy reading!

Great call yvonne! I just finished Clow's The Mayan Code and thought it covered everything that's going on and will throughout 2012 with humanity and beyond. But you're right about picking through any and all material and discerning what currently resonates best.

i started this book, and at about page 80 i gave up on it. he gives no background information on anything he's supposedly "proven" or "discovered". and the evidence he gives for the supposed "100%, undeniable proof" that atlantis is real, to me seems even less that circumstantial. . he cites no sources for where i can check his info, he just says what he learned from a book, and i'm supposed to accept his interpretation of that info as a fact.

The Mayan code by Barbara Hand Clow is excellent, and others by her. Barbara Marciniak is good, too. Read everything available if you have time! Would not recommend Sylvia browne. I think she copise from others. Plus I do not trust someone who has fifty books on one shelf.

Just red ‘2012 the year of the mayan prophecy’ by Daniel Pinchbeck
Excellent book touches on lodes of subjects from psychedelics to crop cycles and alien abductions.
I recommend it.

I think it's all about what you want to happen. :p There's a book out there to prove or disprove whatever you want.

David Wilcock has a forum on this subject called Divine Cosmos. There are also some excellent videos on You Tube about this date.
http://www.greatdreams.com/ has a lot.
There is a ton of info on this date.
I don't know that I buy it myself, although something is obviously going on now and is getting faster as time seems to pass. :)

In my collection I have -
'2012 - The Year Of The Mayan Prophecy' by Daniel Pinchbeck (UK edition - overseas edition is called '2012: The Return Of Quetzalcoatl')
A good overall look at the 2012 phenomenon and the main players with interviews, as well as why Pinchbeck himself reckons that he is the reincarnation or living avatar of Quetzalcoatl (!)
Starts off well, but with Daniel's reflections on his own situation near the end of the book, things start to get a bit, erm, confused....
'Beyond 2012' by Geoff Stray
Geoff is an an Englishman whose book claims to be 'The Ultimate Guide To 2012 Prophecies' and concentrates primarily on the physical events which will bring about the consciousness changes on Earth.
Quite dry, but with loads of information covering a lot of bases. More like an encyclopedia to dip into.
'The Mayan Calendar And The Transformation Of Consciousness' by Carl Johan Calleman
Calleman is a Swede who, along with the late Ian Lungold, prefers to consider October 28th 2011 as the end-date of the Long Cycle of the Calendar and explains his reasons as to why he differs from other researchers. His work as the title implies, concentrates more on the consciousness angle of the nine Underworlds of history.
More intuitive than other writers on the subject, I feel, and more controversial. Recommended.
'The Invisible Landscape' by Terence & Dennis McKenna
This book written in the mid 1970s is very academic and pretty hard to read if you don't have a scientific background. The book that introduced the Timewave Zero idea to the world, based on the McKenna brothers' experiences in the Amazonian rainforest in 1971, made famous in another book 'True Hallucinations'.
They carry out detailed explorations into the I Ching which led to the conclusion that Time as we know it would end in December 2012. All this was written without them knowing anything about the Mayan Calendar at that time!
A tough book to get through, but ultimately rewarding.

I have a copy of Edgay Cayces prophecies for the 21st century and it mentions nothing about 2012. You would have though that if something was going to happen then he would have predicted it.
