I got this in the mail today. I have read her writings, and am paying my last respects to this feminist freedom-fighter.
Dear All,
We wanted to share our sadness and loss over the passing of radical feminist pioneer Mary Daly (1928-2010). Mary's life and work were courageous, uncompromising, and revolutionary. She spoke and wrote intelligently and unapologetically.
As Susan Bridle who interviewed Mary for Enlightenment Magazine many years ago put it, "Daly has, for more than three decades, committed her every waking breath to a single purpose: seeing, naming and dissecting the structures of patriarchy in order to liberate women's minds, bodies and spirits from its oppression."
Read this highly amusing and inspiring interview with Mary at http://www.enlightennext.org/magazine/j16/daly.asp
Mary Hunt of Women's Alliance for Theology, Ethics and Ritual http://www.hers.com/~water/ provided a very moving statement which we would like to share:
With a heavy heart, yet grateful beyond words for her life and work,
I report that Mary Daly died this morning, January 3, 2010 in
Massachusetts. She had been in poor health for the last two years.
Her contributions to feminist theology, philosophy, and theory were
many, unique, and if I may say so, world-changing. She created
intellectual space; she set the bar high. Even those who disagreed
with her are in her debt for the challenges she offered.
She always advised women to throw our lives as far as they would go.
I can say without fear of exaggeration that she lived that way
herself.
May her spirit soar and her ideas endure.
Mary E. Hunt

Unfortunately, the mainstream press unsurprisingly enough have not done a sufficient job of memorializing Mary's life and work :( but we've been told that many radical feminist bloggers have been writing and paying their respects online.
We will include a brief memoriam in Rain and Thunder's forthcoming annual Activism Issue and will share a more detailed one in our Open Issue which will be out in March/April. Please send us your words, thoughts, memories, and stories.
Jae Haggard from Maize Magazine has also requested women to share the ways that Mary Daly touched their lives. They will include a memorial in the Spring Issue. Please contact jaehaggard[at]gmail[dot]com or visit http://www.maizemagazine.com.
Lastly, we have just started the process of gathering ideas and energy to organize a memorial service/gathering for Mary. We have received word that something is being planned in Boston around the time of the spring equinox. If you have more information or would like to *get* more information on the event, please contact Rain and Thunder.
There is also the idea of creating a memorial website to remember and honor Mary. If you have any interest in helping out, please be in touch. Otherwise, stay tuned to participate!
We end this email with a quote from Mary Daly herself:
"My favorite word is not 'post-patriarchal.' It's 'metapatriarchal.' The prefix 'meta' has four meanings. It's transformative of, in the background of, beyond, or transcending. It isn't just post or after in linear time. So we can, right now, even though patriarchy is all around, try to live metapatriarchally. You can try to be metapatriarchal by not succumbing to all the rules and roles and games of patriarchy."
Peace and continued sisterhood to Mary Daly on her journey passing over,
Nayiree for Rain and Thunder
