I'm reading Sometimes a Great Notion by Ken Kesey. I haven't read One Flew yet, so I can't make any comparisons. This story is so thick. Kesey bops around from perspective to perspective.

The story is seen mainly through the biased eyes of the two Stamper (half) brothers. The hot shot tough guy is now running the family logging business. The estranged younger half brother is invited back to Oregon to help in the business, so as not to have to involve the union.

They all have their motives, and its wonderful seeing each character through everyone's eyes, even their own. So far most of the book has been about the family, from their emotional perspectives. Then BAM! Tensions between the family and the union mount just as the rainy season starts. And we see the story from the unions point of view.

I feel like Kesey has squeezed water from a stone in this book. The topic could be soo dry. But every word is necessary to build whatever its building to.

I just wanted to share my kickass novel experience with yall. I haven't finished it yet, but I'll be back when I have.
