In a way , I feel it is more obvious to have had New Year start on the Winter Solstice just after the Sun's lowest apparent point in the year.

Happy New Year? I guess some of you are still holding to the idea that the next year is going to be happy. I bet 2009 was happy for all of you because in 2008 you wished it was to be so. Yeh! Happy New Year - but most people only feel any different because they've had a skin ful of alcohol. Hearing people sing "Auld Lang Syne!" makes me cringe! What does it mean?

I packed up smoking in May 09! 90% of the people who make New Years Resolutions fail to keep them going longer than a week, if that! The zest of the so called New Year only lasts a day if that before people are the same as they were the previous year!

after all its just another year!
