So originally I've been skeptical about astrology, but after reading David Icke's books I've decided to take another look at it and give it a shot. Are there any good books to reccomend about this? Say for someone who knows nothing about it?

Marion March and Joan McEvers. I think there are 6 books. You can check them out on amazon.

Go to one of the websites that provide a free astrology birthchart & have your own chart done, this will start you off as you learn.

I think you need to think about what kind of astrology you want to learn.

If you want to learn from someone that waits for something to happen before they cast a chart, look at modern astrology

If you want to learn from someone that likes to cast a chart before something happens, look at traditional astrology

I suppose I want to look into the view and utilization of astrology used by the Illuminati and such. Particularly the psychological impact of stars and planets lining up in different places.

For info, you can begin at www.astro.com (free horoscope and interpretation).
For books, Parker's Astrology is a good place to start as a complete one book reference. It turns up a lot at used book stores, and it's on Amazon, of course.
All of this is assuming western astrology. There are Chinese and Vedic (jyotish) as well.

My first book was "Astrology" by Sheila Geddes, D.F.Astrol.S. first published 1976

It's a "Macdonalds Educational" book which I found easy to read and it got me started knowing absolutely nothing.

I think that it is a gentle introduction to the subject, which it has to be said is very large.

It has 96 pages and lots of interesting illustrations, some coloured.

It was only £1 over 30 years ago! :)

Good luck!

I learnt using Russell Grants astrology kit that shows you step by step how to make a chart. It's very good for beginners.

A really good book for beginners is "Astrology for Beginners a simple way to read your chart" author is J Hampar and the publisher is Llewellyn Worldwide

I think you can even get a free birth chart from the publishers website

i would start by learning about your own astrology chart (called a Natal chart).
the more accurate your birthtime the more accurate the chart!
this chart becomes like a snapshot of the Universe at the exact moment
of your birth.
it acts as map to your own unique energy blueprint.
astrology resonates with the 6th dimension of your being.
within it you can rediscover what you may have forgotten
simply by being born.
it is a tool of self-discovery, but should not be looked at
something as written in stone! you still have free will to change
your mind & beliefs. if anything, it can help you fine tune the skills
you already possess and show you which is the best path for you
to manifest your hightest potential.
sometimes one needs to learn to read between the lines for a good
chart intrepretation. the best intrepretor is yourself really.
the more repetitively something comes up, the stronger the influence!
sometimes things contradict themselves, but thats ok. its only
really important if the same traits/energies repeat themselves.

check out this site for a start....

if u need more basic info, i may be able to help break it down, but only
if you are REALLY interested, because i would have to dedicate a bit of
time on it :D

Last weekend I picked up The Only Way to Learn Astrology by March & McEvers, Vols I & II. These are two really good books. The format is like a course, so it gives summary, examples, and quiz at the end. It gives the essential material, without overwhelming you so you really can learn astrology from them.

For me it's been Linda Goodman's Sun Signs. Best basic natal astrology book I've ever seen. She writes in plain English, and I'd say the accuracy rate is about 80%, which is amazing for a mass-market book.

I also have her Love Signs, in which she doesn't just give reasons why Aquarians and Virgoes don't like each other but gives excellent advice on how to overcome each others' shortcomings and make a relationship work. Wonderful stuff.
