HONDURAN GAY ACTIVIST WALTER TROCHEZ ASSASSINATED

Walter Trochez (BELOW), 25 years old, a well-known LGBT activist in Honduras who wasWalter_trochez
an active member of the National Resistance Front against the coup d'etat there, was assassinated on the evening of December 13, shot dead by drive-by killers. Trochez, who had already been arrested and beaten for his sexual orientation after participating in a march against the coup, had been very active recently in documenting and publicizing homophobic killings and crimes committed by the forces behind the coup, which is believed to have been the motive for his murder. He had been trailed for weeks before his murder by thugs believed to be members of the state security forces.

In an open letter documenting this wave of political assassinations of Honduran queers he'd written last month entitled "Increase in hate crimes and homophobia towards LGTB as a result of the civic-religious-military coup in Honduras,” Trochez had written that "Once again we say it is NOT ACCEPTABLE that in these past 4 months, during such a short period, 9 transexual and gay friends were violently killed, 6 in San Pedro Sula and 3 in Tegucigalpa." At the end of this open letter, Trochez declared that "As a revolutionary, I will always defend my people, even if it takes my life”. Sadly, that's what happened. so he was active in TWO SEPARATE areas, reporting crimes commited by the 'coup' state AND ALSO the unrelated topic of gays that had been killed.

it is therefore likely he has shot specifically for going against the 'coup' state, not because he was a homo, they would kill any man the same way

grachtengordel, I couldn't agree with you more. That's exactly what I was reading into the story. Yet nowadays it is fashionable to add a tinge of "special interest" to such stories by emphasizing the fact that the guy was gay. As if that somehow makes an already egregious political assassination of a reporter more aggregious than it already was. Is this the death of a gay journalist somehow worse than the death of a straight journalist? Gay activists just LOVE to hierarchize oppressions, with their own oppression, "homophobia", at top of the pile of evil.

To give you an example: Alan Johnston, the BBC reporter who was abducted in Gaza two years ago is rumoured to be a homosexual. I have no confirmation of this, however, neither he nor the BBC have ever exploited his alleged homosexuality during or after the abduction. Just imagine the BBC coming out and saying: "Oh, Alan was abducted because those Arabs are such homophobes."

You people are pathetic. A man's life and other's who were of similar background were singled out and snuffed. All you can do is try and tarnish the memory of the person who died instead of looking at the patterns of injustice and prejudice towards his fellow human beings. No he was killed standing up for other human being's rights against a coup, hence illegal takeover by the military. Something you have already dismissed as his being killed because he is a mere homosexual. Being a homosexual has made him a target of the abuse. In his own words this makes you all hypocritical.

So how do you know this? This is projection and speculation. You clearly do not. You merely try and dismiss what you cannot fathom, but you seem to dismiss the suffering of those you scapegoat and dislike.

Again projection, speculation, and arguing against larger pattern of murder and hate crimes of individuals other than those who are homosexual and or heterosexual.
