In this thread, I would like to explore faith.
To me, faith is about believing in something you can't prove, but know in your heart, it is real. Therefore, it is real, to you.
I, have faith, that the things we do in this life, has an effect on the next life.
How about you?

Interesting thread :)
I would have to say that I do not have faith, I think that true wisdom begins when we believe we know nothing (therefore, that makes me very wise, lol :D)
I have spent most of my life having strong beliefs, that I have now realised were misguided (staunch atheist, rationalist, believer in science and little else) as I have gone through the process of waking up, I have come to realise that these beliefs were props for a self identity, and that I was choosing what to believe, now i'm in a faith limbo, not knowing what to believe anymore.

Faith is the belief in something in which there is no strong evidence to support. Thats what I think.

You sound like an intelligent person, so I highly doubt you know nothing. You sound like your looking, but haven't found the truth, whatever that may be :)
Thanks for your honest inflection!

Man, that leaves things wide open. I would say, your response is scientific.
Maybe in truth, but lacking imagination?

One builds their world through faith. It says this about faith in the bible:
"Now FAITH is the substance of things HOPED for, the evidence of things unseen...Hebrews 11:1
For it to have substance it's gotta be active, and it's these actions brought about by faith that builds one's reality. It builds the entire world, which is a reflection of these actions. Faith is a powerful energy that benefits every field of study and life.
Faith is enjoyed by all people. Scientists and artists and religious folk all excel in it for most of the day. Someone sitting an exam in physics is there having been motivated by the inner imagery of what they wish to become. They see themselves solving an amazing formula perhaps, or working out in the Amazon trying to save the trees. The substance of the thing hoped for is what builds the inner world through imagination, and that becomes the evidence of the things unseen. and becuase the universe has been said to be participatory, it means a better world is always there should we choose one.

Wooow! Hmmmfph. <sitting here thinking>...A better world through choice. I don't know. I feel, choice requires balance. What if we are out of balance?

I agree, balance is key. It has to have a relationship with the kind of world we create, endure or tolerate.

Faith can be defined by either teaching of the bible, or by Webster's Dictionary. It depends on what people are taught when they were truly too young to recall, and don't really know why...but that's what mom and dad said; that's what our minister or priest said...so it must be right. It depends on if a person puts a giant leap between religion and spirituality. There is a difference as one does not need religious practices and dogma to be spiritual.
I'm a non-practicing and former Roman Catholic. After I found out about all the very secret books were missing from the bible...those with the most important elements, and has been 'rewritten' 4,000 times or more...to hide more of course, I backed away. So I began my own research and I've found out there are thousands of things that we were not taught. Such as, there is no physical 'hell.' as admitted by Pope John Paul before he died. Then, I looked at paintings that were done in the 1400s to the 16th and 17th century that 'show' UFO's in the paintings near Emanuele's mother Mary, with beams of light on her head from the UFOs. Recall, the bible tells of the ancient civilizations being 'giants.' And even a painting of Jesus and John the Baptist, with a UFO over them, when Jesus was getting baptized by John, and the beam of light shining down on both of them. I think that was 15th century or maybe 16th. But if you Google that, you'll surely find those. I did.
I'm really surprised David didn't have those copies in his lectures to show as proof. All this stuff is coming out now. The paintings are mostly in the British museums; some in Rome.
I believe what David says about the way the pontiffs wear the same hat as that 'fish' god.
But faith? Wow...I'm rapidly losing my faith in man kind. I thought people were much wiser...but apparently there are still way too many that are asleep. It is important to have faith in our ability to be 'god-like.' After all, we've all been cut from the same stone. Just different molds and colors is all.
Variety is the spice of life, isn't it? How boring would life be with just ONE uniform size, shape, color of everything. Have you ever tried to imagine that? Just think if everyone looked like you, lived in the same style and color of house, had the same style and color of car and so on. Kinda like in the movie, "Edward Sissorhands"...did you see that one? Recall how all the houses in the neighborhood were the same, but just a different color? Weird movie...but cute. I had to write a report on that for a screenwriting class I'd taken back in the 90s.
Now picture 'everyone having the same belief system.' Sure, there would be NO arguments...but it would be BORING! Nothing to really discuss. No new views, the same old conversation over and over, about the same thing, in the same book that everyone else read. So...where's the difference?
Our beliefs sometimes measure our faith. If we believe in ourselves, there isn't anything we cannot do. If we believe there is a power over us, from whom we need to get permission...IF it's HIS will...then we'll find ourselves waiting around a long, long time for an answer. If we're made in the image of Creation...and I'm not talking about God, the creator of man...but Creation itself. A form of the purest energy out there...like the 'ether' of the Universe, then we could see ourselves as part of that numerical matrix, that David speaks of. We do possess that 'pure energy' on the inside, but it's sleeping. Now...being made in the image of God...it would seem to infer that God, who was given the power to create man, would be a man himself.
I've begged to ask the question...'can God makes mistakes?' Whoa!! ha ha ha...now that's a question that I've answered to myself hundreds of times and the answer always comes back the same. If we are made in his image, and we are physical, and we make mistakes, what would make us actually believe that this monopoly stage isn't a mistake...and a very 'bad one' at that. All in the name of learning and teaching the spirit to have faith in an everlasting God. If we could commune with him, it would literally blow our minds...because he has too much knowledge that we do not. But to sample the essence that is of his nature would just be something that 'I' would NOT want to miss.
If it is completely true, that we control our world and that WE CREATE our world...then which one of you folks would have created our current disasters? Who would create wars...famine...death...disease? All this so the spirit having a human experience can learn? But what about those who have been kept in the dark for either all of their lives or most of their lives? A rather 'dormant' inner knowledge that's been poisoned and not allowed to live it's potential is a travesty of justice, totally unfair and in the end makes many people believe that the guy upstairs is 'playing favorites.'
Now, here comes the new age people. "Ohhh, we're here to learn love. We're here to experience love..." Yeah, yeah, yeah...well you tell the Illuminati that. (Illuminati does mean the illuminated ones) Tell them at the Club of Rome, or to the Military, the police, the president. Here to love? Well, if everyone is here for that same purpose, why are our minds being poisoned, our light withheld and our true teachings being taken from us by the money-grubbing, power hungry idiots! Hmmm, interesting. Is God playing favorites???...or did he make the biggest mistake ever, by giving all the power, all the secrets and all the MONEY to the illuminated ones? Are we really here to learn love and forgiveness? Well, it hasn't done anything for me on the physical plane. Yes...I've made my mistakes, but there were always consequences and difficult lessons. So then, why have I not defeated this 'devil' or entity that is stealing my faith? AH HA!!
Tell me; how many years is a person required to hope, pray, knock, ask, tithe, and just about 'give away their life' before a reward comes to them. I'm seeing the illuminated ones getting their way all the time. They play on the stage and want to steal all of the show...and they leave us here...without a leg to stand on. They have it all...the money, the military and the bio-weapons of mass destruction; yet...we are expected, as decent folks to hold onto that faith, even if nothing good comes of it before we pass on and we go back to the light from whence we came and hope the next life is better. Hmmm, interesting.
Sorry, I just had a 'one on one' WITH God the other day...and I'm just having a difficult time 'regaining my faith.' But I'm certain that there are certainly others out there that cannot just sit back and state: 'my...that was an interesting experience. So what's next?' I would supposed there are many of us who take life much too seriously; however, when I look around and watch the military and government killing innocent people for the sake of their oil game...and their 'drugs' in Afghanistan...it truly makes me lose my faith. When I see people being forced to let their children's doctor 'give them 28 various vaccines that will sterilize them for the cleaner future,' I lose faith. When I see the FDA and BIG PHARMA lying about cures for cancer, and the governments and elites SAY...they cannot have this!!! We must get the population down to 500,000 on this planet!...I lose faith.
They say that we create our world...Why, in all that has ever been considered holy, would someone or a group of people create THIS! Surely.. not I! BUT, the illuminated ones KNOW this. They know that if we are depressed long enough, experience a LACK of Sunshine and vitamins long enough, drink enough fluoride to calcify our pineal glands, and keep us electronically belted down and in that tight little black BOX they've created for us...that they'll win. They eat our negative energy for breakfast; but it's getting harder and harder to be positive and as that happens, it gets even harder yet for ones faith to be restored.
Faith...what IS faith? A good question. When anyone figures that out, let me know...okay? :o

"Faith", imho, could also mean "seperation", from what is not yet realised/known...otherwise, for me anyway, the big question is, where the origins of "faith" exists...? :)

A challenging topic for discussion that actually gave my brain a stretch this morning :D
To me, faith is about fidelity to something; and which may be "blind faith" but which can also be "informed faith". You can be, for example, faithful to a relationship which you trust your partner will remain in (rather than cheat or run off at the first sign of difficulty) - which can be blind faith or which can be informed based upon both previous experience AND current experience right now.

Faith is a way of changing the timeline. Thoughts permiate all dimensions so when we believe in something and use thought to bring it about it will create that. faith can also be "negative" (althought technically there are no negative things only experiences that are unpleasant). If we believe the world is ending in 2012 that is one type of faith, since their is no proof this will happen. If we believe 2012 will help us learn who we are which is everything that is another type of faith.
Faith is simply believing in something that will happen or exists. It creates reality in a small way. In a way it's like "hope" it is not a good thing because it keeps us focused on other than the "now" in which we can change things.

In my language we have no seperation between faith and belief, so I'm going to try to make of it what I think it is.
I see faith largely as a control mechanism of feelings, beliefs and expectations. Faith may shape the images you see when you meditate or have a similar spiritual experience. Faith can be helpful and give a sense of hope, and it can lead to action. But it should not be seen as ultimate truth, it is a road you take and not the destiny. Faith can make you feel like a headless chicken.

If it is completely true, that we control our world and that WE CREATE our world...then which one of you folks would have created our current disasters? Who would create wars...famine...death...disease?
We can create this by tolerating corruption, by having a tiny morsel of that in ourselves, and by saying nothing. Getting into a car and causing that teeeny little bit of pollution is as good as owning a petrol coorporation.:D I'm not popular when I point that out to people I know. They like to think the problem is somewhere else, and that what could poor honest folks like them have to do with the state of the world.
Then there are those that have managed to pull away from some of the negative stuff, and they could ask why their reality isn't the one that has taken hold in the world, and why can't everyone love others and treat others with balance? That's why faith is an active energy. It inspires those with eyes to see to also see the path that can manifest better things. Faith basically puts the substance within a mindset.
I can relate to that, and it doesn't make me feel great when I realize that the answer is still to create the substance that would generate the world I want. It's easy, don't be weak, abstain from supporting corruption, say no to the chocolate bar and sign the petition for better conditions for the workers. Do little things and build your world. I have every confidence that when a dream is based on reality it will manifest. When it is just another illusion it will cause the usual cloudiness.
The new agers wrote stuff in the bible. The quote I sent in regarding faith , from Hebrews 11:1, is a basic new age idea. It says very clearly that faith is the substance of what we hope for. If that isn't a new age way of saying "yeah man, you create yer own reality", I don't know what is.
Hmmm, interesting.
Faith is about manifesting "it" here and now. It's an inner assurance that what you are building in your own life will stand the test of reality. I don't think a lot of people's dreams and desires are going to do that. But we seem to be given the canvas to realize for ourself what reality entails.
Sorry, I just had a 'one on one' WITH God the other day...and I'm just having a difficult time 'regaining my faith.' But I'm certain that there are certainly others out there that cannot just sit back and state: 'my...that was an interesting experience. So what's next?' We must get the population down to 500,000 on this planet!...I lose faith.
They say that we create our world...Why, in all that has ever been considered holy, would someone or a group of people create THIS!
"This" is probably the result of manifesting atachments that the planet is unable to support, and we can see that greed and other such negative energies are not condusive to the nature of the universe. But tyrants only get away with their illusion because people sleep, the inner qualites but dormant potentials. Rather than follow these blind people into a ditch, one can stand firm in knowing that actually yes love and building a just society is the better path. This, to me, is the secret to faith, because by persuing this path we are acknowledging that there is no worth in persuing other paths, like getting greedy and cold, for example.
Surely..
"they" won't win. We'll wake up. That's the story, and I have every faith that there is a Creator and that it is a good energy and that actions/active works are the requirement of the day.

Faith is the belief in something in which there is no strong evidence to support. Thats what I think.
Ever heard of "The goldilocks effect"?
According to Stephen Hawking "if the density of the universe one second after big bang had been greater that 1 part in 1000 billion, the universe would have collapsed after 10 years. On the other hand,if the density of the universe at that time had been less by the same amount the universe would be empty"
To give some meaning to this,if you were fireing a bullet at a target 20 billion light years away, you aim and strike would have to be perfect.
Some people, myself included, think this means God is a good shot:D
The goldilocks effect also aplies to our planet and its distance from the sun ect.

So dont belie your faith....!

Faith is being. A tree has faith. A rock has faith. Why don't you acknowledge the faith in you. -- "faith but as a mustard seed, and say to the mountains "move hence" and the mountains will move hence."
"Ye of little faith".
