On monday night my brother was in the garden hanging some washing out, when he saw something move in his peripheral vision, his first thought was that it was a bat, but as he turned and looked at it he saw a small flying object about 1 to 1 1/2 feet across, it was very dark in colour but it could be seen due to having house and street lights behind it, he told me that it had a flat bottom and domed top as if you had squashed a ball a bit and sliced it through the middle.
The object made no sound as it moved on a diagaonal ascent and then moved horizontally until he lost sight of it as it etheir went behind the neighbours house or in front of the roof(dark colour against the dark roof tiles).
The sighting only lasted about 4 second, but the object was very close no more than 100feet away and about 30feet in he air, and the clincher that this was not a flying night animal was that just befor he lost sight of it a bright red light flashed on and off on the side of it.

Has any one else seen or heard of this type of craft?

Hi des1000, apparently the police have been trialling spy drones since 2007 and it started off in liverpool. Is this what your brother saw?

Hi, no he said it looked nothing like that, flew silent and totaly stable, he said not wanting to take the mickey, that it looked more like something from that film Batteries not included.
And just to add on the same night me and a mate saw a bright stationary light with a smaller red light to its side, on or just above(could not make out the hill top in the dark) the hills between wardle and whitworth, Lanc's, not sure what it was or weather its linked to what my brother saw.

Well that sounds alot more interesting than a police drone! Hopefully some more sightings will come from your area supporting what you saw. You're near to Todmorden, supposed to be a bit of a ufo hotspot.

Yeah that right Chipstyxx, not far from Todmorden, and then we have Whitworth and Bacup(another hot spot,i know a few people who have seen things up there) in the other direction, with the Pennine hills around us. Are you from round here Chipstyxx ?

Des, I am from Lancashire but currently residing in Manchester. I saw a UFO near Rochdale once, about 15 years ago. We hardly ever see a clear sky with all the light pollution here in Manchester. I'll keep my eyes peeled though, you never know :)

I think I've seen a drone too. When I was 20. Almost exactly the same. I also distinguished it from street lights.

It also had a red light and was about 15 up in the air, coming towards me kind of. It was only about 50 feet from me, but I was inside. I saw it clearly through a window with no curtains at around 2:00 AM in 2006.

i think they are also called "probes" fyi.

Excellent Raven, i was showing my brother your reply and it does sound like the same thing you have both seen, he was telling me that as he first caught sight of it acending, it came from behind a neighbours garage so it must have been low to start with, i wounder what their upto weather its home grown or ET, and with their small size and dark colour there could be loads flying about that you never see due to them blending in with the night sky.

This is like the first time I've ever had something on here truly substantive to tell! I am glad my description above was adequate enough to convince your brother.

I looked at this object for only 5-10 seconds. It was coming closer and closer to me, and it probably wouldn't have bothered me as I was inside....but I fled like a coward. I was hyperventilating, I was truly in terror. I am very afraid of UFOs, and since age 7 feared I would be abducted. I don't believe I am being abducted....But of course if you've seen something near your home, the likelihood jumps dramatically.

I find it interesting that he saw it from a garage...I also live in a suburban area. I saw this thing entering my backyard and move closer to my house. I ran away like I said, but I did analyze. In the first seconds I didn't lose my head and could distinguish it was definitely very different from streetlights nearby.

oh yeah....the amazing thing was that before this happened....I was on my computer here....and a voice was urgently telling me, commanding me to look out the window.....If I didn't I would be in danger!

So I turn around in my chair, and saw that UFO! I think I had a feeling I was being watched, or something uber intelligent was in the vicinity. I feel that UFO picks up data, and if I had stayed it would have gathered data on me, and then aliens might decide to make me their newest human experiment.
