Alexa Ray Joel, 23, had taken several pills of the homeopathic medication Traumeel after a breakup with her boyfriend of several years, and was taken to St. Vincent's Hospital

Her life was saved because she was using homeopathic sleep aids instead of conventional sleep aids. Despite the danger involved in taking too much of ANY medication, the superior safety of homeopathic remedies makes them almost impossible to use for overdosing despite having efficacy rates similar or superior to conventional medicine.

Just last week a good friend of mine attempted suicide. He loves people and is usually a happy person so it was very odd to hear about him. About 2-3 months ago, a kid (maybe 17-19 yrs old) in my neighborhood hung himself over his balcony when his parents got home. He waited for them so they could see it happen...
Sorry this isn't related to your story, I've just been hearing so much about suicide lately... something is not right with the air.

Am I missing something, where does it say it is a suicide attempt? I mean, I'm sure it might have been but....
IMO they are just putting more empty blame on homeopathic medicine. Bullshit.

It says nothing about suicide,only says she was concerned about her breathing after taking the supplement.Totally unrelated but it looks like Christie Brinkley had nothing to do with making that woman...all piano man there.:p

The story was initially reported as a suicide attempt with Alexa having taken sleeping pills. Billy Joel gave a statement to the press saying Alexa would be fine.
The next day, the story changed--now it wasn't sleeping pills, nor was she ever in danger. She took Traumeel and was worried about her breathing. But Traumeel isn't even a sleep aid. It's for sports injuries. It seems like the second story was concocted.

thats because homoeopathy is pretty much water with, if you are lucky, 1 molecule of something useful in it. I would like to see some actual peer reviewed studies done on efficacy.
superior in the same way you cant overdose on a placebo sugar pill the way you can with painkillers.

ening and had called me to tell me she missed and loved me (not unusual). Girls said she was in a very good mood right before.
What is even more screwed up, she was released directly from ICU to home when they realized she was unemployed.
