MOSCOW, September 11 (RIA Novosti) - Russia has tested a thermobaric bomb that is the most powerful in the world, a top military official said Tuesday.

Known as a vacuum bomb, it uses a fuel-air explosive and can create overpressures equal to an atomic bomb, said Alexander Rukshin, deputy chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces.

"It is environmentally friendly, compared to a nuclear bomb, and it will enable us to ensure national security and at the same time stand up to international terrorism in any part of the globe and in any situation," he said.

He stressed that the bomb does not violate any of the international agreements that Russia has signed.

MOSCOW (Reuters) -
Russia has tested the world's most powerful vacuum bomb, an explosive device unleashing a destructive shockwave with the power of a nuclear weapon, the military said on Tuesday.

"Test results of the new airborne weapon have shown that its efficiency and power is commensurate with a nuclear weapon," Alexander Rukshin, Russian deputy armed forces chief of staff, told Russia's ORT First Channel television.

"You will now see it in action, the bomb which has no match in the world is being tested at a military site," the state-controlled channel said. It showed a Tupolev Tu-160 strategic bomber dropping the bomb over a testing ground. A large explosion followed.

A thermobaric weapon (vacuum bomb) works by first dispersing a cloud of powder or liquid explosive using a small charge, then igniting it with a second charge.

The weapon consists of a container of either a volatile liquid or a finely powdered solid, which could be an explosive or metal powder, and two separate explosive charges.

The weapon is initiated upon dropping or firing, and the first explosive charge (or some other dispersal mechanism) bursts open the container at a predetermined height and disperses the fuel in a cloud that mixes with atmospheric oxygen. Once the fuel is appropriately mixed, the second charge detonates, propagating an explosion (blast wave) through the cloud.

Newer types of thermobaric weapons do not disperse the fuel before igniting it, but are single-stage bombs having one explosive charge that both ignites and disperses the fuel.

What's that suppose to mean?

It means that the NATO countries will think twice before attacking Russia.

NATO E-3 AVAX plane conducted aerial reconnaissance in Russian border area in the evening of February 23, Russian Ministry of Defense reported.
AVAX was flying in Latvian airspace near Russian borders from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm Msk February 23.

According to the source in Russian Defense Ministry, on February 23 the spy plane flew from Germany (Geilekirchen Air Base) to Rumble aerodrome in Latvia “to demonstrate the capacity of force and equipment within AVAX-NATO system".

For two hours AVAX was flying over Latvia and conducting radio, radar and other kinds of aerial reconnaissance of Russian and Byelorussian territory using all spy equipment aboard the plane.

”AVAX flights in the airspace of Latvia and Lithuania enable NATO to conduct deep aerial reconnaissance of Belarus and North-Western region of Russia, and we are concerned about this”, said the representative of Russian Air Force General Staff.

Cordial Felicitations Comrade December:

Very Impressive! As impressive as these 'Arms' are, they are built to destroy, not enhance Humanity. A 'waste' of the Peoples resources.

Do you have materiel of a more positive nature; as to medical science, natural farming, life enhancing information. Drilling wells, Clinics,,,

I think everybody knows Russia is 'Bad Ass', as a long history of Noble Warriors illustrate. The same as many other Peoples.

I believe the 'Shift' in Human Nature will be from the 'Hunter' to the 'Shepard'. Allocation of Resources will be RePrioritized.

Kind Regards: Snoopsnufffleopagus

ps: Beware of Vacuums, some are closer than you may percieve!

Yup... as far as I know, NATO cannot attack anyone without having the VETO vote from Russia as well... so I kinda guess they do not need vacuum bombs to do that. The day Russia uses their vote to say, hell yea, lets attack Russia, we never really liked those guys anyway... Then I will go buy myself an icecream.

But weapons with the strength of the atomic bomb, but enviromental friendly? That is quite a feat. The starwars program can still shoot most of the down before they ever leave Russia, if I am not mistaken. Probably even in an enviromentally safe way :)

Why is it anyone would attack Russia by the way?

Yeah mate....................................yeah...... ....

Today's situation in Europe looks just like it was in 1941 when the Soviet Union and Nazi Germany signed number of friendly agreements including a non-attack deal, but when the peace was secured on paper, Germany invaded the Soviet Union in 1941.
