Yet another car load of inebriated young blokes crash into the trees surrounding the river that I live alongside  5 Guys roll out of the car amidst the clinking of beer bottles and all survived. The car ended up with it's nose in the river.
Boy!! were they lucky! they were driving a very solid Holden car. If that had been a Jap car it would have been a different story. They have just winched the car out and what a mess!!
The young folk just don't get it!! don't drink and drive!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We are always witnessing car crashes along the river. Two December's ago a 19 year old guy killed himself just opposite, his pillion passenger survived. He was a trainee Chef.
I'm posting this for all you young guys on the forum......don't bloody well drink and drive!! PLEASE!!!!

_underscore_ lives in a similar location. There is a nice little road (just happens to be called the River Road) that runs along a very scenic river here for about fifteen miles. A few years ago an associate of _underscore_s was driving drunk with the dudes girlfriend in the truck. Well, the associate drove off a cliff into the river, killing the lady in the truck. The real unfortunate part of the whole thing is that the lady was a mother of a young child. Tragic and infuriating at the same time.

You know, driving while drunk is the single most selfish thing
I can think of......yet it continues despite the deaths.

My worst memory is from my teen years when a couple I knew
(male and a female) were driving to a party. They were both
18 and had already had alcohol before they left for the party.
He was driving and drinking from a beer bottle as they drove
down suburban streets well above the speed limit. They crashed
into a power pole and both were killed instantly.....the driver
was obviously taking a swig from the bottle at the time of the
crash, as the impact of the crash had forced the beer bottle
through the back of his mouth and it was sticking out the back
of his neck (having severed his spine on the way through) when
they got him out of the wreck. His girlfriend took the full force of
the impact and her head was unrecognisable.

So yes lemonique......I agree with your DON'T DRINK AND DRIVE
sentiments.

You live in New Zealand? Aren't they quite strict with drink driving there?
My friend had her license suspended there for drink driving.
I agree too many tragic stories from drink driving but people still do it
Alot here! I say ban alcohol altogether but we know that won't happen!
I guess people must be responsible for themselves. (Mother Grundy says!)

Hi Limelady!! Yea, unbelievable behaviour from so called civilised folk:rolleyes::rolleyes: We hadn't had an accident for quite a while, and someone mentioned that a few days ago.......

Hi Underscore....yea...what is it about rivers that make people think they can be silly and go faster?

Hi Cheesedanish, Yes we are very strict here with a torrent of very graphic ads on TV and steep penalties etc....makes no flamin' difference I'm afraid

I have a few crashes on film, a police motorcyclist killed, people being cut out of wrecks. A right mixed bag.

I've also had friends killed because of drink driving. Pretty fucking grimm.

I agree totally,

Don't drink and drive!

Yeah it's quite common where I live...People think it's cool. I know a lot of blokes who have their girlfriends really under the thumb, they make them take them out in their car, get them hammered and make them drive them home. If they refuse, they literally call them names or even get violent. These girls are so stupid not just for the drink driving thing but for almost everything, they get abused by their boyfriends and just take it.

Admittedly I have drunk drove on some occasions, I avoid it as much as possible but I am not one of those people that would drive crazy while drink driving, I am impaired yes but I don't go over the speed limit nor have I drove over a few miles.

Driving stoned is pretty bad as well, even though I drive like 25 miles an hour, it really makes me paranoid. I know so many people that drive stoned but it doesn't seem to effect their driving like it does mine.
