All Hail Our Lizard Overlords: White and Wright Prepare For ‘Them’

You think you know from conspiracy theories? You wish you could come up with a conspiracy theory half as awesome as David Icke. For those of you who don’t know who Icke is - (1) congratulations on not being completely insane but (2) seriously, you’re missing out.

David Icke (and before him John Rhodes) is a British “freethinker” and major proponent of conspiracy theories who — are you ready for this? — believes that the world is actually controlled by extraterrestrial, shape-shifting reptiles (in the guise of the Illuminati, themselves in the guise of leaders such as George W. Bush, Queen Elizabeth, etc). Among the events these lizards are responsible for include the Holocaust, the Oklahoma City Bombing, and 9/11. Of course, duh.

If you’re not tickled by this kind of stuff, really, you’re missing out. But you will be if Mike White and Edgar Wright have anything to say about it. Their new script, “Them,” is “a paranoid conspiracy movie/comedy,” White recently told MTV News. “About who the secret rulers of the world.”

And who are the secret rulers of the world? “They’re lizards!” enthused White.

If I’m allowed to editorialize for a minute here - this is obviously awesome.

White wrote “School of Rock” while Wright directed and co-wrote “Shaun of the Dead” and “Hot Fuzz,” but with this film they’re going out on a limb, White said. “Hopefully, [Universal] won’t think we’ve lost our collective minds,” he chuckled. “It’s the kind of movie that will take imagination on the studio’s part.”

White insisted they had nobody in mind for the lead as of yet.

Great stuff!

After seeing 'Hot Fuzz' I wondered how much of a grasp Edgar Wright and/or Simon Pegg had on things lol, now I know!

This film was originally supposed to be coming out this year but it seems to be getting shoved back all the time. Jack Black was going to be in it (I read an interview where he talked about it). No idea if he still is. I think it's currently penciled in with a realease date for 2009.

I love 'Shaun Of The Dead', 'Hot Fuzz' and 'Spaced'...Edgar Wright has made some great stuff but he is going to lose a LOT of fans if this movie is just a big piss take of 'conspiracy theorists'. I would hope he's intelligent enough to treat this subject with the respect it deserves.

As for Jon Ronson (the movie is to be based on 'Them') he's shown his true colours once again. Allowing a book that covers Ruby Ridge, Bildergerg, etc to be turned ito a comedy is incredibly disrespectful. He likes to boats of his good relationship with David Icke, Alex Jones, etc. I don't think that's going to last with this bullshit mate.

"All truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as being self-evident."

I laughed when I saw the first comment, pretty much summed it up:

“Ridicule is the tribute mediocrity pays to genius.”

Not on the board I post on where I am in a minority of One. There are so called Born Again Christians posting there who are calling for Armageddon, think Icke is a total Fruitcake and they Supported the War in Iraq to remove that nasty NWO puppet Saddam. I even got these fucked up Xitians to admit that they would support the Anti Christ to get rid of SH, which is exactly who they are supporting.

Ahh so this is that flim...I remember Alex talking about this on his radio show and he said he talked to Jack Black and said 'You know this films based on me?' and Jack Black was a bit quiet about it...I think in one part of the book, Alex is hiding from Vampires...

Ronson shall be thrown in prison just like all the other gatekeepers.
