"This film is nothing more than a moral vacuum with a deviant message and, as such, is something that should be of concern,' said Monsignor Franco Perazzolo, of the pontifical council of culture yesterday.
'This theme of vampires in Twilight combines a mixture of excesses that, as ever, is aimed at young people and gives a heavy esoteric element.'
Three weeks ago the Vatican condemned Halloween as 'anti-Christian and dangerous' and it urged parents not to dress their children as ghosts, goblins and vampires.
The Catholic Church, concerned with the well being of children? Complaining of "deviant messages" with their record on children? What irony!
I think the moral fibre of a child sat in front of a vampire film is far safer than if they were sitting with a priest!
