Hi all,

I think that i have been spiked with prozac or some kind of similar drug (my mate took prozac at one point and said the effect was a bit like speeding, which this kind of feels like (for a while, then he felt like a prozac zombie)). Ive gone from feeling pretty unhappy, lethargic and pissed off to feeling hyperactive, typing strange things in a text chat client that dont reflect the norm (e.g. normally i wouldnt have the confidence to start a thread. but here I am), I've got strange tingling sensation in my lips, My body feels like it is full chemicals, my palms have become incredibly sweaty and I tonite I have been feeling really cold.

Anyhow, i want to know where i can get a blood test that will be completely anonymous and tests for a wide range of anti-depressants/anti-anxiety drugs (preferably not with NHS)?

Anybody know any food groups that should be avoided if taking drugs like prozac so I can see if I get a reaction which would suggest that i am taking prozac (or similar)?

What is the legal deal with spiking somebody with prescribed drugs?

I took anti depressants once (venlaxfaxine) and it took me 12 months to fully recover from those evil drugs. I made a promise I would never take another anti-depressant and it has to be said, at the moment I feel incredibly betrayed.

Thanks for any help you can offer

(ps please no comments along the lines of 'go and a see a doctor' cause i dont trust those bastards, especially NHS ones)

hey dontpushme

firstly if you were spiked with prosac, i believe it would need to be a dossage high in excess of 'recomended' to have any noticeable affect on your physicality. A 'recomended' dose would take a week or so for the effects to be apparent.

Your symptoms don't sound like prosac based to me, i could be wrong.

Is there anyway that you can confirm that you have been spiked with prosac, confronting the persn(s) who you suspect?

Initially if it is prosac, it'll take 24 hours to get out of your system, drink lots of water / green tea / orange juice to help flush it from your body, orange juice will also help you to come away from the speedy effects. Give it a day, rest up and detox and see how you feel.

This isn't medical advise, of course, because i'm not a dr, but i know you said

But if you feel any worse, at least ring the nhs helpline (uk) or get yourself to a doc

I don't know how to advise you on this, as there is no way to know for sure if you have been spiked with Prosac or something other.

Have you been in a situation lately where your drinks may have been spiked?

If so, how long ago was the last possible chance somebody had to do this?

I'd be willing to bet it is not Prosac, but something more in the line of amphetamines or some ephedrine-type street drug if you are speeding to that extent.

How is your pulse rate? is your heart beating faster than normal? Do you have a dry mouth?

Meanwhile, you need to just keep drinking as much as you can and if your physical symptoms worsen, then you may need to visit an emergency department somewhere.

In most cases of spiking, the effect wear of within a 12-24 hour period, so as long as you are getting better (not worse) you should be alright.

It is very unlikely that you have been spiked, somewhere over 95% of cases of "spiked drinks" never find any evidence in samples taken.

And prosac would take a few days (at least) to have any noticeable affects.
