Am enjoying my time on the dole while it lasts, as starting next year I will be up for forced labor! or be given "a subsidized working place" as is the pc name. So you stay on the dole but have to do menial jobs 40 hours a week.

As you can imagine am not looking forward to that at all.

The legal basis for this is that you have to accept "generally accepted work" or else you lose part or all of your benefits. There is a difference in how this is being applied across different towns. In my town you get 6 months of benefits where you have to look for fitting work, then if you don't find that after that time you have to accept a subsidized job, usually in a specially created work factory where you either have to pack stuff in boxes or do other simple jobs.

One Dutch guy fought the decison to cut his benefits successfully on the ground that the subsidized forced labor did not help him in any way get a regular job. He did sign the work contract, which meant they did not cut as much of his benefits as they would have.

Would it make a difference if people were given a real apprentiship, I ask this because I'm thinking of putting forward a proposal to our local government rep for offering apprentiships in handmade shoe making and other skills like woodworking skills, and a few more of us with other traditional skills.
