Been seeing magpies on a regular basis and in many different places, this morning it was 3 and yesterday 5, day before that 1, but in the past generally I see 2.

Does anyone know the true meaning of seeing magpies? I have heard of the plain 1 for sorrow 2 for joy etc..
Found this on Yahoo, from a acclaimed psychic, can anyone shed some light on to the topic please?

Well birds like magpies and crows don't go south in the winter seasons, they are well adapted to the cold seasons of the temperate climate and can eat a lot of things unlike many other birds. You might also notice the increase in birds of prey, buzzards and hawks who come from northern Europe.
Doesn't mean they have no deeper significance though, but I'd go with seasonal explanations first.;)
Their true meaning is you're being as cheeky as they are.:D

Do you 'salute' magpies?
Someone once told me that if you see a magpie on it's own you should say "hello Mr Magpie, how's your wife and kids" otherwise it's unlucky. :p
I presume it has something to do with magpies normally appearing in pairs.

The Magpie
Related to the crow the magpie is an intelligent and adaptable bird. Ancient folklore associated with the magpie suggests that when two or more fly into ones life good fortune is coming soon. Since magpies are opportunists and seldom miss a chance to get something for nothing those with this medicine should pay attention to subtle omens that appear in their life then act accordingly so opportunities are not missed. The magpie asks us to wake up and be conscious in every area of our life.
Magpies are curious and have a reputation for steeling anything that they can carry away. They use whatever they find and teach us how to be resourceful. Magpie medicine people have the ability to succeed in life. Those with this totem are usually eclectic and able to draw on a variety of resources to assist them in their pursuits. Being able to adapt to different situations in a spontaneous way is one of the magpies strongest attributes. Those with this totem often find that their interests are varied which make master ship of any one thing difficult although not impossible.
Magpies are extremely vocal especially in groups. They help those with this medicine learn how to use their voice to attract attention, attain desired goals as well as acquire respect from others. This applies only if this medicine is developed sufficiently. Otherwise the voice and its expression may need improvement for positive results to be obtained. Proper communication is one of the lessons that needs to be learned by magpie medicine people .
The black and white coloring of the magpie associates them to the world of magic, prophecy and witchcraft. They know how to live within the light and the dark simultaneously and understand the pros and cons of both. Magic is symbolic of creation. Occult knowledge must be understood fully before it can be used in a beneficial way. Those with this totem have the opportunity of creating a new and better life for themselves once they develop their psychic gifts completely and use those gifts with pure intention and self less service. Past life ties regarding the misuse of magic are common amongst magpie medicine people. The gift of a new creation will be offered to you only when you are ready. When the magpie flies into your life, get ready, your about to embark into the world of opportunity.

There was a guy across the railway lines from my Mum's house who called a Radio Scotland phone-in a couple of years back. He boasted of killing around 95 Magpies with his air-rifle in the space of 18 months. I was furious when I heard it, but now, after suffering years of torment by squawking families of Magpies at my own house, I'm starting to understand where he was coming from. They can drive you up the wall.
I also now believe Magpies are partly responsible for the decline in songbirds. Eating the young, wrecking nests etc.
But as for the reason for the increase in Magpie numbers, it could be that their natural predators have declined.

I don't mind magpies, I have issues with seagulls depriving me of sleep and crapping all over my house, car and occasion on my head :( Although they do say shit for luck lol :p

I have a close affinity with magpies, that goes back many years. They act as a divinatory tool in answering my silent questions. If a single magpie appears it is a negative answer and two or more are an affirmative.
I have actually had magpies land on the ground in front of me on one occasion to prevent me walking in a certain direction. They only stopped doing so when I turned back the way I had came. I even have the occasional one flap at my bedroom window.
I always consider what I have been thinking about when a magpie appears - they are my friends. :)

I'm wondering have any of the people interested in this thread. Had some NLP or been away on holiday with a group of people they met from the internet. Or been to a conference and returned back thinking it was the same day but was in fact a day or two later? Exposing that last bit is the hard thing to do.
You have to go back over all conversations and things that you have seen and see if anything jumps out at you as being out of place. It took me nearly 4 years to realise that I had gone for something on a Saturday and not the Sunday. It took me nearly 7 years to recall other events.
When at the shops do you buy milk or fruit juice and see people you know always there hanging arround hiding but not with you. Are the seals just slightly tampered with. Just enough to slip drugs into them. Do you sense that someone has been in your home when you are out. Things are taken and then put back a few days later. People recalling past events in your life by using the phrase do you remember or other NLP commands? Are you a student?
If any of this resonates with you. Do not dismiss what I am typing as a coincidence or some paranoid loon on the net. You will be told by those in your CONtrolled circle that it is just that. A coincidence, that all these things have happened. Well it is not. They will eventually isolate you, remove finances from you, switch your moblie without you being aware of this. Take remote CONtrol of your car. Switch the PIN on bank cards. Change the transaction history on bank statements. Deliver local newspapers with different headlines to the same issue sold in the shops.
It is a sign for you to wake up now. Yes wake up and realise that you are a Mind CONtrolled secreat agent, assassin or being compromised via the use of covert suirvailance of your home and environment. Yes thats right brainwashed with several missions to be a patsy like Oswald.
I have knowledge of at least five different missions that were planted in me. They will if you wake up, excuse it all as just being a coincidence. Well when you have hundreds of coincidences that are orchastrated to reinforce the illusion you live in. It is becasue there is a massive MK-Ultra program being actively run since the 1950's in the UK. They have branched out into other places as well in the world.
Examine your life and compare it to those arround you. In the area that you live in. Have you moved arround a lot. Not got many long term friends or a relationship. A lot of dead relatives or they live overseas. It could be because you are an asset enslaved to produce Intellectual Property without being conscious of this.

LOL I live on the coast :( They drive me mad at 4am and when they have babies they attack passers by! I have seen full grown men cross the road away from the parents.
This year we had a baby one that use to sleep in the middle of the road and wake up real docile when you beeped at it to get out the road, all the while the parents on the rooftops waiting to swoop anyone or anything that walked past. violent bloody things. As for eating them with chips YucK!

What does it mean if your house is covered in pigeons all of a sudden (the past 6 months they began to live here near my window). I've heard they were related to the white dove and have seen many Egyptian references of this bird. They seem so calm and serene.

Of course the CON could be modified and changed over time. Most people who I contact or raise the subject with. Goes off on one about me being high or some other dont want to take head out of the sand reply to my observations. Some say things like they could come up with similer things. Guess what, they never do. Its always oh its just a coincidence, your paranoid, your this your that. I've yet to have anyone who can really say x, y and z is strange. lets check the facts. Another one is why dont you move or get a job. Never ok something is concernig you and it needs to be addressed. Never do they. Always people are giving me a laughing reply brush off.

Well you should not concern yourself with others laughing or accusing you of paranoia, if you truly believe in that you are helping people and in what you say, then neither praise nor criticism should make a difference, hold to a belief in what you are saying. You can never convince people totally of anything until they feel it within themself, you have given the suggestion and that is all you can do.
I do not really know enough about NLP or MK-ultra to comment on it too much but I feel the fear on an unseeable force cannot be beneficial. Everyday things can concern me but as you say I address them. So for me I am not worried.
I know I am trapped and programmed by society and I am slowly trying to rid myself of the walls and de-programme my self. So far it seems to be working.

I prefer Rooks to Crows or old does
So there is no need to change the road
Just modify your lifes path take
See the reflection of the rooftops
Is beneath all of the mood drops
As the magpies sweep and swoon
See the Jackdaw relate more to fate
A lump in my throat makes me deliberate
Should the birds all sing a song of six pence
Take time to memorise the line of the days

I've been doing this for years. Can't remmeber why, but always had the notion that it was done when you see one Magpie alone; Because they have metallic shiny feathers, the Magpie flashes these at you and keeps your attention while the mate robs your nest. You salute the Magpie as a mark of respect, and to pay mutual respect they do not rob you while you are out.
I've always done it as a superstition against getting burgled while away from the home!
i have alwasy adored Magpies!
I came home from work once and there were 7 magpies standing around outside my front door. I just stopped dead in my tracks and stared for a while! What would you do tho?!! That's some freaky omen!

theres alot of truth in this post. magpies like most corvids( members of the crow family , jays jackdoors ect) are very territorial .there main diet consists of eggs , other birds chicks and carrion. they nest almost scrictly in hawthorn.
the number of songbirds in an area is directly linked to the number of magpies.
most game keepers will cull magpies by shooting or using larsen traps.

Exactly Hunter77. Magpies are entirely detrimental to songbird numbers and especially ground nesting birds like lapwings and game like pheasants and partridge. Nothing worse than seeing magpies mobbing songbirds nests for chicks and seeing the mother of the chicks in distress trying to protect her chicks. Magpies are thugs !
This year there seems to be very high numbers. I must take the .22 next time I'm out with the dogs in the morning and knock a few.

True.
That's nature though isn't it. A farmer down the road from me used to have a problem with foxes eating away at calves as they were being born in his sheds and in the fields. The same happens with lambs.
I once saw a fox earth with a larder hole next to it with 3 large free range piglets in it. Not surprising, apart from the fact that the electric wire protecting the pigs was 4ft high and the fox would have jumped it with the piglet in it's mouth and the piglets weren't small by any means.
Funny really when the fluffy bunny brigade talk about fox numbers controlling themselves and foxes not taking lambs. It shows their ignorance. The fox has no natural predator other than the motor car and man and they take lambs as easily as we order a take away !

they are also a very intelligent animal.likened to the parot in their memory capacity.consider it a three year old in guise of a bird. rooks crows and others of the same family also have the same memory and capabilites.they are scavengers and live mostly off dead things.

These birds are part of nature's clean-up system and do what they were intended to do. Why is humanity so hell bent on interfering with nature's cycle...? When will people learn to work with nature instead of constantly fighting against it? It is a fight humanity will lose - nature adapts much quicker than humanity.

If you are rearing partridge would you let the magpies have all the eggs and chicks?

i actually agree with this comment. i myself have been bought up not as a townie but very in tune with the environment as my great grandad was a farmer and my grandad was of the war generation where we grew our own and used ferrets for rabbiting.we bred canaries and have all manner of pets over many many years. and we have rescued the odd magpie, rook and crow when it has got stuck. they are very adapatable and will visit even though they are a wild animal after being with humans. like the comment says everything be it human or animal is part of nature and we must learn to live with it. yes even the very hairy spider.:) which i confess to having a fear of.im trying to conquer it but still find i suck them up the hoover when they are as big as a hand and hairy and that horrible blackygrey colour.

Cheers Jason Statham!, will give it ago, said hello to 1 again today, now I am just used to it, they are everywhere, I am not sure of the whole god thing, think I believe the kingdom of god is within us, so I will ask myself that question.
Been seeing crows as well recently.
I seem to have light bulb moments about these things, hopefully I will find the answer.
Have a good day :)

What does it mean if your house is covered in pigeons all of a sudden (the past 6 months they began to live here near my window). I've heard they were related to the white dove and have seen many Egyptian references of this bird. They seem so calm and serene.
It normally means your house is warmer than the others around you! So either you've got your heating on higher than them, or your house has worse insulation, or both... :)
