I've just been informed that an aquiantance has joined this order.
Are they anything to do with Masonry?
Are they respectable in their operations, or do they have a more sinister and clandestine agenda?
Any info would be greatly appreciated.

NO
The AMORC formed in New York in 1915. They are nothing to do with Freemasonry or Free Masonrie and are not recognised by any legitimate Masonic body.
As to their respectability, i'll leave that to more learned individuals. GS or Kadosh might be able to enlighten you.

The chap who has joined that particular order is somewhat impressionable, and I am hoping that we can glean more info so that we can offer him guidance and advice should there be cause to do such action.

I agree insofar as I do not believe that it is harmful in any way, because as far as I know, they do not hide their belief in the Natural God of the Enlightenent.

Funny you should mention this..I found a LOT of info about them..word for word initiation ceremony for example on Wikileaks.
it mainly seems to be about dealing with your own truth and your own relationship with the creator/light. The Neophyte statement actually says as this is a personal discovery and statement..dont sign if you dont agree.
Im not sure if you can amend it or if that would be the end of your involvement though.
