Mis-spelling PM meant 'no offence'
Prime Minister Gordon Brown has personally contacted the mother of a soldier killed in Afghanistan to assure her that he meant no offence when he spelt her son's name wrong in a letter of condolence, Downing Street said.
Mr Brown telephoned Jacqui Janes after learning of her distress over the hand-written letter, sent after her son Jamie, 20, of the 1st Battalion The Grenadier Guards, was killed by an explosion on October 5, which began "Dear Mrs James".
Now, a Downing Street spokesman said: "As soon as the Prime Minister was told about this he personally contacted the mother to make absolutely clear that he never meant any offence and to underline his deepest sympathy for her, his complete admiration and thanks for the bravery and sacrifice of her son and he said he would do whatever he could to help her at this most difficult of times."
Mrs Janes, 47, said she found Mr Brown's letter "disrespectful" because of the spelling mistake.
She told The Sun: "He couldn't even be bothered to get our family name right. That made me so angry.
"Then I saw he had scribbled out a mistake in Jamie's name. The very least I would expect from Gordon Brown is to get his name right.
"The letter was scrawled so quickly I could hardly even read it and some of the words were half-finished. It's just disrespectful."
A spokesman for No 10 said that the Prime Minister spends a great deal of time writing to bereaved families of fallen soldiers and would never knowingly mis-spell anyone's name.
He said: "The Prime Minister takes a great deal of time writing letters of condolences."
Is this really headline news? At least he took the time to try and handwrite a letter despite the fact that he is practically blind.

"The media really don't like Gordon Brown do they?"
Interesting question. I thought that the big two would be split (BBC-ITN). With the Tories BBC bashing and promising to divide the TV tax between all channels, i assumed in the name of self presevation the BBC would go all out in backing Gordon Clown.
And ITV would be the sickening Cameron show, trying to portray him as a world statesman, in reality he has been shown to be weak, timid and easily influenced, he cant even run his own party.
(the lib dems are a sponge to soak up the pathetic voters who think they are been radical by not voting for the "big" two)
All media outlets will be scared of backing the loser, while both party leaders will be scared of committing to anything incase they upset any voters. We will end up with a sham election.
I actually hope westminster is abandoned, only opened up again when a truthseeking, independent and strong leader is ready to lead the revolution and fight the evil EU reich, saving a country and a generation.
( for all the Churchill bashing on the forum recently, he would not have allowed the hostile non military occupation by our European "friends". ( with friends like these, who needs enemies))

I bet some snivelling, hunchedbacked, hand wringing, boot licking, arse kissing minion of brown had the bright idea of trying to make him look human with some sort of emotion by making this headline news.
His attempt was to show Brown taking time out of his busy schedule of screwing everyone up the arse by handwriting a letter to somebody who he probably never wrote to in the first place!!!
His attempt in my eyes is a FAIL

Exactly, I didn't like John Major or Tony BLiar or Brown, because all of them were or are lousy PMs, but to maintain the illusion of democracy, the media will turn on any PM, for a smooth transition of power to the next appointee. They do this so that the next appointed PM wins with a large majority, because they don't want a hung parliament, because then laws would be debated rather than imposed and some common sense might make it through from time to time.
In 10 years or so the media will turn against Cameron too. 100%
Not that it makes much difference after Lisbon, maybe when all the power is transferred over to Brussels they will allow a hung parliament?

As far as I'm concerned they deserve Darwin Awards for getting rid of the stupid gene for joining the army and going off and getting themselves killed in the first place.
At the end of the day they join the army because they fancy killing someone and then expect stmpathy when it happens to them.
But with all the attempts on my life since the year 2000 (many dozen) I can only rejoice at the reduction in the number of enemy.
It would be better if they started getting rid of the pigs too.

It's all part of the charade. Blair and Cameron stands on their x's on the floor and read their scripts, and the media produces the piece of theatre that tells us what to do.
The pattern to watch for is the press getting at the Labour bench with petty and personal things.
On the contrary, the Tories will be given column inches in the press discussing policies and politics.

"The media really don't like Gordon Brown do they?"
Course they don't. I'm sure they're indifferent. He's doing his job, they're doing theirs. It's election time next year, the medias job is to make sure the people that still think they're living in a democracy vote for Cameron. Not that if they didn't he wouldn't get in anyway of course.

Janes/James an easy mistake for a fully sighted person to make. Just more for the media to spin and whip the nation into a frenzy pre-election...
Hardly worth the paper it's printed on, just like the rest of the drivel that pretends to be information for the masses.
I suspect things would have been much different if we had got Brown instead of Blair. Brown is the patsy in this show - Blair did most of the dirty work before he left.
The news section is so boring lately - just the same kind of crap over and over - the public has the memory span of a goldfish.

My guess is, having seen the success of Obama replacing Bush and all the support Obama got, their trying to make Brown the new Bush. He isnt as verbally incoherent as Bush was so they need to attack him in other ways. This way his opponent in the next election will garner more support.
Of course, he'll get in anyway as our votes are worth the value of the paper divided by the number of votes cast. As I've said before, they introduced secret ballots so that no one can trace their own vote if a result is called into question. We have no way of checking the results of any vote.
I always thought the mocking of Bush was the reult of a nostaglia trip among someone in the Elite, someone yearning for the bumbling incomptence of Reagan.
PS We're do the ballot papers we fill out end up after an election? Are they kept somewhere safe? Or are they turned into peat moss as recycled as firelighters?

The mainstream media is a big "show", a circus act to keep the sheeple believing in the left verses right illusion. The sheeple then believe that they have choice, and that they are free.
Gordon Brown's puppet masters are the very same people who pull the strings in the mainstream media (and who also pull David Cameron's strings).
So to answer the question, the mainstream media have no opinion on Gordon Brown. The mainstream media is just a corporate entity which is used to manipulate our minds. They report what they are told to report.

I think you are right there.
I have actually met David Cameron.
He came to see me while I worked in Cotswold Rock Bottom in Betws Y Coed.
It is an outdoor gear shop.
It was Spring of 2005.
Not long either before or after Michael Howard lost the General Election to Blair.
He told me he had been listening to the messages that I had been leaving Lyndsey Gordon at Conservative Party Headquaters as I had been giving exacting details about the poisoning of my drinking water supply at 22a New Road Llanelli by my Land Lord Clive Grove and the symptoms of tumours in my throad, bonny pips on my knee caps, colar bone and two tumours either side of the tip of my urethra were I was peeing out the water that had been poisoned with carcenogenic chemicals and bio-warfare germs.
I was explaining about the red sores that oozed the same smelly gunge out from under my ears as the smell that covered the mains water tap that leaked after he altered the plumbing to accept a pipe from a black plastic water tank he had put in the flat upstairs.
I had an open, oozing sore on the side of my head that looked like a pair of lips and when I went for a sauner in the leasure center it blew up like an apple on the side of my head.
All this and the VX-Nerve gas attack of mid February.
I Knew George Bush and Tony Blair were in on the murder plot along with previous ones.
But it was much later that I proved that Prince Charles was also in on the plot and of course Prince Phillip found "Dave" his first job and it dose seem hard to believe the boy from no-where was elected Tory Party Leader by any other mechanism that a block vote from Buckingham Palace.
He has never tried to use his role as opposition leader to expose all the attempts on my life.
He did actually ask me if I had tumours on my John Thomas-his exact words- to see if I came up to proof on my evidence and of course I did because it is all true, it would be a lot harder to remember all this if it was lies.
But despite many hundreds of phone calls later in 2006 he never lifted a finger to try and stop my misery at the hands of germ warfare terrorists from the UK State.
