Health warning labels for alcohol
Tue, 04 Sep 2007
The health department has published regulations requiring container labels for alcoholic beverages to carry messages "highlighting the negative effects of alcohol consumption".
The regulations — published under the Foodstuffs, Cosmetics and Disinfectant Act — are the outcome of lengthy consultations with the parties concerned to address the challenge of alcohol abuse, the department said in a statement on Monday.
"Alcohol consumption is a major factor in cases of violence and trauma and contributes significantly to non-natural causes of death in the country," it said.
The regulations would come into effect within the next 18 months and was part of the department's ongoing campaign to promote healthy lifestyles.
The "health messages" destined for labels on bottles and the like, include:
Alcohol reduces driving ability, don't drink and drive;
Don't drink and walk on the road, you may be killed;
Alcohol increases your risk to personal injuries;
Alcohol is a major cause of violence and crime;
Alcohol abuse is dangerous to your health;
Drinking during pregnancy can be harmful to your unborn

Not in the UK. Many people here still believe they can't live without drink, but don't realise it's killing them.
The warnings on cigarette packs are getting ridiculous
http://www.notestomyself.net/notes/images/050612_english_fag_warning.jpg These two are tame compared to some of the statements.

_underscore_ had worked as a vendor at many Intel sites across the US. The culture within that mega corporation facilitates a dependency upon authority (which is what most of these seemingly outrageous and common sensical warning labels are about, in _underscores_s opinion). There are written procedures on how to sit at your desk and type. It is 'unlawful' within the Intel to go up or down a staircase without using the hand rail. And get this, _underscore_ is not embellishing this next one: _underscore_ was walking down a corridor one day, and yawned while walking. An Intel employee saw this, and stopped _underscore_, and told him that he should not walk and yawn at the same time!

I Thinks Its Good, Alcohol Cause More Deaths, Trouble Than Anyother Drug. Look At The Violence, Property Damaged, Drink Driving, Asbo Youths, Unwanted Pregancies Hence Abortions, Etc, Wife Beaters, Its Needs To Be Taxed, And Better Regulated. It Shoyuld Be For Over 21, Kids Drink Too Much Too Young Here. Its The Culture, Look At Continental Europe, Compared To England, ? The Difference Is Huge.
On The Continent, Its Food And Drink, In England, Its Drink And More Drink.
