I'm more into Burning Spear, Gregory Isaacs, Don Carlos, Horace Andy etc. Of course though my favourite Reggae artist bar none is Lee 'Scratch' Perry, he's a mad genius who I feel never truly gets the props he deserves.

In the mid-2nd millennium, the island now known as Jekyll was part of a coastal Georgia Native American chiefdom called Guale. Muskogian tribes, who comprised a majority of the Creek Nation, were the inhabitants of this territory.

The surrounding creeks yielded fish that were speared easily by hunters, and the tribes utilized native vegetation for food and drink, gathering nuts and fruit, even making a type of tea from parched holly leaves. These settlers also allegedly grew pumpkins, beans, tobacco, sunflowers, and maize among other crops.

At the end of November 1910, Senator Nelson W. Aldrich and Assistant Secretary of the Treasury Department A. Piatt Andrew, and 5 more of the country's leading financiers, who together represented about one-fourth of the world's wealth, arrived at the Jekyll Island Club to discuss monetary policy and the banking system, an event led to the creation of the current Federal Reserve. According to the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, the 1910 Jekyll Island meeting resulted in draft legislation for the creation of a U.S. central bank. Parts of this draft (the Aldrich plan) were incorporated into the 1913 Federal Reserve Act. On November 5 - 6, 2010, Ben Bernanke stayed on Jekyll Island to commemorate the 100-year anniversary of this original meeting.

Forbes magazine founder Bertie Charles Forbes wrote several years later:

Picture a party of the nation's greatest bankers stealing out of New York on a private railroad car under cover of darkness, stealthily riding hundred of miles South, embarking on a mysterious launch, sneaking onto an island deserted by all but a few servants, living there a full week under such rigid secrecy that the names of not one of them was once mentioned, lest the servants learn the identity and disclose to the world this strangest, most secret expedition in the history of American finance. I am not romancing; I am giving to the world, for the first time, the real story of how the famous Aldrich currency report, the foundation of our new currency system, was written... The utmost secrecy was enjoined upon all. The public must not glean a hint of what was to be done. Senator Aldrich notified each one to go quietly into a private car of which the railroad had received orders to draw up on an unfrequented platform. Off the party set. New York's ubiquitous reporters had been foiled... Nelson (Aldrich) had confided to Henry, Frank, Paul and Piatt that he was to keep them locked up at Jekyll Island, out of the rest of the world, until they had evolved and compiled a scientific currency system for the United States, the real birth of the present Federal Reserve System, the plan done on Jekyll Island in the conference with Paul, Frank and Henry... Warburg is the link that binds the Aldrich system and the present system together. He more than any one man has made the system possible as a working reality.

This Wikileaks footage shows Reuters journalist Namir Noor-Elden and her driver Saeed Chmagh being shot at by the Apache. The attack occurred in a public square in Baghdad and they were assumed to be militants. After the initial shooting, a minivan full of adults and children drove into the square and were fired upon as well. The US military listed the adults as militants and claimed they did not know how the deaths occurred.

Jekyll Club 2007

The club thrived through the early 20th century with an exclusive limited membership consisting of many of the world's wealthiest families at the time, most notably the Morgans, Rockefellers, and Vanderbilts. The club lasted 54 years, closing at the end of the 1942 season due to complications from World War II. In 1947, after 5 years of funding a staff to upkeep the lawn and cottages, the island was purchased from the club's remaining members for $675,000 during condemnation proceedings by the state of Georgia.

The club officially opened its doors when the executive committee arrived for the 1888 season on January 21.

son of the late cia director william colby, carl colby met bob marley backstage, at a concert in kingston jamaica in 1976. He gave bob a pair of boots as a gift. When marley tried the boots on, he screamed in pain. Apparently a sharp piece of cooper protruding through the upper sole, stuck him in his big toe. Five months later, while playing soccer, he hurt the same toe and the nail came off. By the end of 1977, the cancer would begin to spread throughout his body and it eventually would claim his life in 1981.

His former "wailer" band mate, peter tosh, was gunned down at his jamaican home, later in 1986, in a so-called robbery. While tosh's wife was critically wounded, two of his band members died alongside him that night. Oddly though, nothing was stolen. Two of the three gunmen got away. The lone captured is serving a life sentence for his part and to this day will not speak about the murder...

Issels opened his ringberg clinic in bavaria in 1951. As the clinic achieved greater fame, patients from around the world began to seek his treatment. However, other doctors did not appreciate his practice, specifically the bavarian medical council, which charged issels with fraud and manslaughter.

Later, during the second world war, issels reportedly petitioned to resign his membership in the nazi party when he was ordered to stop treating jewish patients...a review of issels' claims by the american cancer society concluded that there was no evidence that treatment with issels combination therapy or any related treatments were effective against cancer...
