Hello,
Maybe this is a pointless post, but it frustrated me today and made me angry.

After deciding against buying a sandwich from Costa and Pret a manger due to their ridiculous prices..I went to Gregs.

I saw that they had a meal deal on offer for £2.99. Which isn't too bad. A drink, sandwich, crisps or doughnut

So i chose a sandwich, then noticed that you couldn't get crisps, only a doughnut, which made me angry, then i picked up a bottle of water and went to the counter to pay. I was then told that water wasn't included in the meal deal!! Maybe I'm over reacting, but surly water should be included in the meal deal. So they force people to buy coke, or other crappy sweet drinks. I just said forget it to the woman and walked out of the shop.

I just went on Gregs website

http://www.greggsthebakers.co.uk/promo/index.php

It clearly states,

ANY DRINK

Also on the website there is this picture of the meal deal. Different prices aswel and this one there is crisps not a doughnut. One picture says £2.99 the other £1.99

ummmmm Bottle of water and crisps......not a dougnut.

Hm. Well im going to go back to the store tomorrow and try and buy a bottle of water with my meal deal and see what she says. This time I will be armed with these photos and information from the website! Might even give head office a call.

How can they not give people the option to have water with their sandwich! Bastards.

Rant over  till tomorrow, ill let you know what she has to say.

Its only an offer to contract. They could at the till decide against offering any goods at any price.

I read that they are opening up another 500 stores. If I had the dosh, I would open up in competition.

bottled water is actually quite expensive to produce believe it or not
unless they r under orders from ptb to push soft (kill) drinks

however
they r probably guilty of misrepresentation surely??

Never use them when there are local bakers around. Yet another chain that is destroying the small man and making every town look the same.

They do water as part of the offer where I live - looks like they've been a bit sloppy changing promotions to me, as the old £1.99 one is different to the new £2.99 one.
I think it's stretching it a bit to say they are under orders from the ptb lol - more likely the local store has made some kind of fuck up with the promotion.

Write to their customer services and complain - if you get no joy I'll speak to a friend of mine who is quite high up in their head office.

It's actually a promise to treat, not offer to contract, they're two different concepts.

Anyway, I remember a case involving Boots which was basically the same argument and if memory serves correctly the judge held for Boots..obviously

I would question where it states on their displays that water isn't included, and ask for their names, their manager's name and the name and contact number of their area manager. I suppose you could argue unfair advertising but it's still nothing more than a promise to treat, which basically is an offer which can be changed or removed without notice.

And from seeing the people that get to work in the Greggs that I've seen, I'd rather to without the crisps and cake and go to Pret. At least there you know youre not gonna get a bit of plegm or nail varnish in your sarnie

doughnuts are possessed by evil entity's from another dimension. gods hand stepped in and saved you from what would have been a very messy affair indeed. one should count ones blessings ;)
