Felix is the second Atlantic
hurricane of 2007 season.
AccuWeather reports: “At 8:00 p.m. EDT Sunday, Hurricane Felix was located 390 miles southeast of Kingston, Jamaica. Maximum sustained winds are up to 165 mph, making Felix a Category 5 hurricane. It is tracking west-northwestward at 18 mph. The surface pressure has fallen to 934 millibars or 27.58 inches of mercury. Hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 25 miles from the center, and tropical storm-force winds extend outward up to 115 miles. A tropical storm watch is in effect for Jamaica and Grand Cayman.
"Felix will pass well south of Jamaica Monday most likely maintaining Category 5 strength as it continues to feed off of the deep, warm waters of the western Caribbean. Felix is expected to make a strong landfall in Central America late Tuesday or Wednesday over northern Belize." If the storm's forward speed decreases after first landfall, it could strengthen again before hitting Mexico for second landfall.
