Without anything that can be called a serious investigation, local authorities in a wealthy Houston suburb have whitewashed the death of former Enron vice chairman J. Clifford Baxter, calling it a suicide. Baxter, 43, was found shot to death in his Mercedes Benz in the early hours of Friday morning, January 25, near his home in Sugar Land......That a man only two days away from suicide would be considering hiring a bodyguard defies belief. But neither the Times nor any other media outlet has raised the possibility that Baxter felt his life to be in danger because of what he knew and could divulge about the internal affairs of Enron. Men have been killed for much less......

Palfrey Was Recently Convicted on Federal Charges Stemming From Operating a Prostitution Service, May 2008

Deborah Jeane Palfrey, known as the "D.C. Madam," was found dead in Florida on Thursday, according to Tarpon Springs [Florida] police......
Palfrey hanged herself in a storage shed on her mother's property, where she had been staying, police said. Palfrey's mother, 76-year-old Blanche Palfrey, found the body, police said.
Palfrey was convicted April 15 in connection with a high-end prostitution ring catering to Washington's elite. She had said in interviews that she would kill herself before going to prison.....
Police earlier said "handwritten notes were found on scene that describes the victim's intention to take her life, and foul play does not appear to be involved."
(I lived in Florida at the time The DC Madam committed suicide. It was common knowledge on the local radio and TV news that her suicide note included 'DNR' (Do Not Resuscitate) instructions. It was regarded as unusual. It was also claimed at the time that she would soon reveal details further of her business. - Coco)

Palfrey told ABC News last year she would never return to prison, after serving time in the 1990s for other prostitution-related charges. "I sure as heck am not going to be going to federal prison for one day, let alone, you know, four to eight years."
(How do we define that statement? As a suicide threat or a promise to fight? - Coco)

Democratic Sen. Paul Wellstone, his wife Sheila and daughter Marcia died Friday in a small plane crash near Eveleth, Minnesota, that also killed three staff members and two pilots.
The plane went down in snowy, frozen rain and then burst into flames in a wooded area about 7 miles east of Eveleth-Virginia Municipal Airport. Officials said the last contact with the plane was at 10:20 a.m. CDT when the plane was about 2 miles from the airport.

Senator Paul Wellstone was the first 1960's radical elected to the U.S. Senate. In Senate Race 2002, the White House made defeating Wellstone "Priority #1". Karl Rove hand-picked conservative Republican Norm Coleman to run against him. Despite massive funding, Wellstone was increasing his lead over Coleman less than two weeks before election day.
Then, tragedy struck. On the morning of 25 October 2002, Wellstone was killed after an apparent loss of communication and control that led to the crash of his small plane. He died alongside his wife Sheila, their daughter Marcia, three staff members, and the two pilots, while trying to land at Minnesota’s Eveleth-Virginia airport.
CNN’s Wolf Blitzer insisted to his reporter at the scene that foul weather was the lethal factor in the crash, despite statements to the contrary from the CNN correspondent who was actually there. To this day, the public tends to blame the weather. First reports convey enduring impressions but are not always right.
Ph.D. Professors James Fetzer and Don "Four Arrows" Jacobs present the harrowing truth. The plane was not responsible. The weather didn’t cause it to crash. Nor were the pilots incompetent, as the report of the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) would eventually maintain.
The facts point elsewhere. The FBI arrived at the remote rural crash scene with perternatural speed. Could they have known in advance? The FBI restrained the ambulance and the fire teams from taking photos. Even the AP photographer on hand was intimidated, delayed and monitored. And a member of the U.S. Capitol Police Dignitary Protection Division was there.
Did these representatives of law enforcement illegally remove evidence, such as indications of foul play, before the NTSB arrived to investigate, some eight hours later? Why did the FBI state that they were treating the site as a "crime scene" but also maintain that this was not the scene of a crime?.....
