View Full Version : Four Great Movies I Watched Tonight

william_mac

1. Cool Hand Luke

2. Singin' In The Rain

3. One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest

4. Easy Rider

All of these movies make me love America... I mean the REAL America. They also give me the bug to go back out and travel and live the life, which is why I shouldn't have watched them.

When I dropped out of high school at 17 I took off with $245 and an old 15 year old Ford Aeorostar van I called "The Blue Goose". It was blue. I traveled all over the southeast coast, and down west as far as New Mexico. You know, Charlston, Savannah, Mobile, the Delta, New Orleans, Austin, San Antonio... etc.

I would stop into cities and spend about 2 or 3 months (6 months in Savannah and New Orleans) and do these really crazy and hard labor jobs and live with some chick that was a friend of a friend of a friend. Then, I would break their hearts one day when I'd just get up and and leave to keep on traveling... I would never even tell them. I don't think I ever felt bad about it at the time.

I was doing it for no reason too. Maybe too much beat poetry, or stories in magazines, or pictures of the 60s. My tolerations were high and the drugs and booze were like food. All we wanted was a cool bar, with some cool blues, and a bunch of random weirdos around.

Really miss those days. Here I am in Atlanta. I'm writing for a magazine, I'm writing about politics, I'm painting for band covers, and I work at home. So I guess I've gotten what I wanted, but I'd much rather be out in the world not giving a shit. One thing is for sure, when and if I get my proverbial "big break" within the next year I'll be gone. I still have to make that cross country trip.

That is just a random thought. Anybody seen those movies? Man... those movies are great. I hate doing political short documentaries/journalistic pieces. I need to make some movies. I've written so many goddamned scripts, and I don't know what in the fuck to do with them. It's not like writing stories or articles, you can't just submit them places.

I've been wanting to make it out to Arizona, and then up the coast of California starting in San Diego all the way up to Portland, Oregon to live with the dropouts and losers, and then up to Seattle to stick with the dark shades.

Yeah. Can't watch these movies anymore.

I don't believe in America.

I don't believe in America.

Way to crush the buzz pal. America is more than a government or a political system. There are states, and people in those states, and roads, and people along those roads. There are beaches, and lakes, and caverns, and a big open land ready to explore. There is a big wide open land predominantly untouched, and a great pioneering spirit still existent and untouched by corruption within those middle American locations. And, unless you're here, and you've gone away from the city and delved into the wonders therein, then you have no room to say.

Piss off with that kind of talk, especially with a post like this. Just piss off.

What are you talking about? Real America is the traveling America. We've been to plenty of Native American reservations actually. I lived for a month on a Cherokee Nation reservation in Oklahoma.

Please guys, don't start putting anything like politics into this or anything. It's just silly and stupid. I mean... if I met a lot of the people on here in real life and they talked like they do, then I would kick their ass. Not you Oceanwave... just, a lot of people on here. The dumb fucks.

Hah hah. No, that's Daniel Walters, or as I call him "Dirty D". He's a wino traveling brother, who is real savvy on the marketing side of things and puts together a lot of shit for me. He's in South Africa right now. His friend actually just got killed there. I knew the guy, although I can't remember his last name for the life of me, his first name is Eddie. He was at an internet cafe spending the night when several folks came in and beat him to death and stole his money. Sad story. Especially since they were reporting on the AIDS epidemic there.

Yeah, Eddie was a good guy.

Check this video out. This is one of the ones they worked on, it shows a glimpse of the trip to 20 countries on 5 continents in 90 days. If you start at 1.16 (although I recommend watching the entire video) you'll see how stupid the white people in South Africa are towards their own AIDS epidemic. It will show you first hand how much Apartheid has really been abolished. HAH. What a laugh.

I've been to a few of those locations with the team. When I got back, and when I watch the videos again today, and in anything I do I guess... I just randomly start crying. Daniel told me he found a name for it, he calls it "compassion fatigue".

You know, it all gets so overwhelming. All of this. You just wish sometimes that you have all the money in the whole world and you could just give it to everybody. Or... something. I don't know. I've devoted my whole life to these truths, and I find myself wishing I was working in a cubicle and had a bitchy wife, hah hah.

Yeah. You know, there are only so many cities in the whole of the United States. There are the big ones like New York, Atlanta, Miami, Houston, L.A, San Francisco, Seattle, and Chicago.

But, those places are just a few. The rest of America is virtually untouched, and desolate with beauty. And, really, only New York City and L.A are the REALLY big cities that everyone wants to go to. The rest of the cities I mentioned above, especially Seattle, Chicago, and San Francisco, they're beautiful and endeering and full of down-to-earth people.

I wish that America didn't have such a bad wrap. I mean, we're all inherently open without dispute, and love everyone within our midsts. It's always these crazy politicians and radicals that get all of the media... that's like less than 1% of the population though.

My sadness is that we aren't educated. We're so big and self-consumed, that we don't care a lot of the times.

Well, he was just sleeping out there in the middle of the street with a giant boner. I don't know what the deal was. I video taped it, walked right up to him and took pictures. People were walking by staring at him, and he never woke up. I think about 3 hours later we came back and that man STILL had a boner and was STILL asleep. I thought he might be dead or something, but he was breathing.

I just don't understand how you could have a boner that long while asleep. He just of gotten hopped up on Viagra, I don't know! Strannngggeee.

Hey man, I'm a movie lover. You kidding? Foxy scantily clad women, aliens competing with each other over who gets to hunt and kill more humans.... foxy scantily clad women... sounds great.

I write a lot of scripts, and my favorite movies are old classic B level Sci-fi movies and horror movies. In my mind those are the loftiest and most truthful movies. I can't begin trying to explain that mentality to most people, they just don't get the underlying messages. As a script writer myself it's easy to understand the writer's thinking. These old B sci-fi and horror movies (including all of the slasher flicks starting in the late 70s to now) are not only some of the best comedies, but they hide these amazingly obscure nuggets of truth in one piece of dialouge somewhere and you're like "holy shit... I never thought about that" and then someone's liver gets cut out, or the naked chick who said it is just murdered by a psycho transvestite.

Have you ever seen "Faster Pussycat! Kill! Kill!"
