Animals are fighting back with a bear claiming a life and a deer causing chaos in a hotel.

An ice-skating bear with a visiting Russian circus turned on its trainers, killing the circus director and seriously wounding another man during rehearsals.

The incident occurred in the Central Asian country of Kyrgyzstan where the bear, clearly aggrieved at being forced to perform, went on a rampage.

The circus's 25-year-old director, Dmitry Potapov, was reportedly dragged across the ice rink during the rehearsal by the bear before a 29-year-old employee attempted a brave rescue (would you square up to an angry bear?) and was also seriously hurt.

Ice skating bears are a regular feature of travelling Russian circuses with some being forced to carry ice hockey sticks.

The sad facts of this event are eclipsed by how awesome it is.
