Frank Olson (died November 28, 1953) was a U.S. Army scientist at the top secret Special Operations Division at Fort Detrick in Frederick, Maryland, who died under mysterious circumstances in New York City. His specific research in the Army is unknown, but he was involved in biological weapons research and experimented with mind control drugs.

According to the government's version of events, as part of the MKULTRA experiments, Olson was dosed with LSD without his knowledge, and he suffered severe paranoia and a nervous breakdown. The CIA sent him to New York to see one of their psychiatrists, who recommended that Olson be placed into a mental institution for recovery. On his last night in Manhattan, Olson purportedly threw himself out his hotel room window. He fell to the pavement thirteen stories below and died.

My father, Frank Olson, died in November of 1953 under circumstances that remain both obscure and controversial nearly half a century later.

This Internet site is dedicated to exploring those circumstances and the political and ethical issues embedded in them - issues of paramount importance to the maintenance of an open democratic society.

The aim here will be to provide a laboratory for the conversion of the secretive, labyrinthine system that led to my father's death into the expanding, open network of the Web. I think of this site, therefore, as Frank Olson's window.

In one of the episodes of this series, I can't remember which, Jon Ronson interviews Olson's son and investigates what happened to him. I don't agree with all his conclusions, but he's scratching the surface of something big here!:

Thanks for the link, I'll take a closer look later on. I don't think that this is such an uncommon thing, it's just that his son refuses to let it go. I wouldn't either.

He was involved in the early germ warfare programme and various MK-Ultra type research. Olson's son believes he was given some kind of hallucigenic that caused him to jump out of a window. It's also been claimed that he might have been simply pushed.

Also, there apparently was a head wound that appears to have been made before the fall.

Was this the same guy who saw or had claimed to see preying mantis looking lifeforms?

Yes. His son managed to get his fathers body exhumed for a second post-mortem. It's worth watching Jon Ronson's report about him if you haven't already.

Not that I've heard, but I've not looked into it in detail. Maybe he was a contactee.
