Baker Street
Original - Gerry Rafferty
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EgbGaYTkkPU
Cover - Foo Fighters
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R5kmaX2bnes&feature=related
I think it was last year when I heard the Foo Fighters' version. It did not appeal to me at all. I was convinced they had massacred Rafferty's masterpiece. But after a while it grew on me as I separated the two. I no longer judged the cover by the original but rather looked at it as it stood on its own. I like both.

Well, I was spinning Bleach about five times a day years before Nevermind came out and I was probably one of the first people in the whole USA to get a copy of Nevermind on August 28th, 1991. :) It's not that. It's just it is really hard to make a cover better than the original. There aren't really very many of them.

nice one bout your discoghphy, but who gives shit tbh? When nirvana were playing little gigs in the north of englnd( even though theyd had europen number one album).they. Still rocked my world. I'd heard the album bleach before. But when nevermind came out the new tunes kicked my ass a three piece band with so much power,
in 91 i ws lisitining to mudhoney ns sonic youth. Thank fuck for kurt. R.i.p.
Just cause you haerd it first doesn't mean you get it,;)
imo the best bnd ever. Ny song coverd is sweet, especily whenthe three piece hs ledbellt plying the tune with them
I think I get it, man. I think I get it. I'm just trying to show you where I am coming from a little bit. Damn, ur splleen iz aul fked up! I jes ntotissed.
It's cool, man. Do you know what I am saying about covers being really hard to make better? I think Roger Miller (Mission of Burma)'s cover of The Man Who Sold the World is better than Nirvana's version, but I'm not saying it's better than Bowie's. What is that you are saying about Leadbelly? They played along to a Leadbelly recording or something?

:( It's going to be okay, hunter77. It's going to be okay. :)

It's a folk song. I don't know if anyone knows who penned In the Pines, but no one will look at you funny if you call it a Leadbelly song.
