DIY Lucid Dreaming Device Makes Your Dreams Come True, Just Not In Real Life (http://gizmodo.com/217967/diy-lucid-dreaming-device-makes-your-dreams-come-true-just-not-in-real-life)

Lucid dreaming (http://gizmodo.com/tag/luciddreaming/) is the ability to realize you're dreaming and then actively control what you do, like flying naked into the president's office or winning the ball game with a nuclear touchdown or whatever crazy crap you people fantasize about. It isn't an easy thing to do, but there are people out there hell-bent on making their dreams enjoyable, I assume because their waking lives aren't that exciting.
The best way to get yourself to lucid dream is to send yourself a signal while you're in a deep sleep, generally via a flashing light of some sort. A dude who goes by "natetrue" went and built himself a mask that does just that, flashing you about 5 hours into your sleep cycle. The best part? He's now selling kits so you can make your own for $30. Get your PJs ready, because I think there are some supermodels that need saving from a volcano… in your mind. –Adam Frucci

i for one can say from experince that this device works!...
i picked up one of these that was a bit more better looking.. black sunglasses with a line of LEDs running along the inside. *got them from a Cash converters for $50:D*.... this was about 6 years ago....
these glasses i got could go ALLOT! more then just let you have Lucid Dreams... there was about 20 difernt settings that all affected dreams states in difernt ways... from what i remember and what i got to work was 3 difernt things... astral projection, lucid dreaming and OBE......
the rest i could not get to work.. or if it did i could not remember the experince *like with some dreams*.....
-------------------------
anyways, the point is,,,, if you EVER have been wondering what all the "big deal" is about these states of mind, then why not spend the couple $ and get this device to take you there..... sleeping will never be the same again;)

There's an easier, free way.
Every few hours or so during your waking life stop what you are doing and really become aware of what's going on and say to yourself "The next time I am dreaming, I will know I am dreaming, am I dreaming, is this a dream?"
When doing that starts to become engrained you will naturally ask yourself the same thing while in a dream. Which will set in motion a lucid state..

lol how is this "easier"... when compered to putting glasses on ya face n sleeping.....
anyways.. yeah i do know what it is you are saying as this is just one of the many ways to "train the brain" to gear it up for lucid dreaming.
other examples is.... switch the light on and off when walking around the house, this trains the mind to do it when you are sleeping *alot of the time in sleep when you switch light on off it will not affect the lighting and this is a indicator for you are dreaming*
touch the mirror when ever you go past one * same thing as light.. but this time, your hand might go into the mirror *
the list goes on for the things you can do to "train the brain" for lucid dreaming......

Hmmm, that's actually intriguing. I'm going to try this.
Also, this looks to be far too easy for me to build - I'm going to make one.

I found Solfeggio frequencies help also. I havent had enough experience yet to understand which ones prepare the mind for a lucid dream. But,
The DLPFC has recently been found to be involved in exhibiting self-control. http://sciencenow.sciencemag.org/cgi/content/full/2009/501/3
The DLPFC plays a role in sustaining attention and working memory
The dorsolateral prefrontal cortex, which is one of the few areas deactivated during REM sleep. Neuroscientist J. Allan Hobson has hypothesized that activation of the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex produce lucid dreams.

Brain Wave States
Our brains operate in four levels of frequency- beta, alpha, theta and delta. Each level of frequency is measured in cycles per second, or hertz- hz.
Beta has the highest frequency, between 13 and 40 cycles per second. This is associated with our normal, everyday waking state. Beta helps in logical thinking, analysis, and active attention. Stress can throw the frequency to the higher ranges of beta.
Alpha operates between 8 and 13 cycles per second. This occurs during daydreaming, fantasizing and creative visualization. This is often associated with a deeply relaxed state, and with a light trance or meditation.
Theta operates between 4 and 8 cycles per second. Theta is associated with intuition, and allows us to access our subconscious. It is activated during dream sleep and deep meditational states. Theta is also associated with creative thinking, and allows us to tap into our inner genius.
Delta has the lowest frequency between 0.5 and 4 cycles per second. Delta is produced during deep sleep.

This is just some information Im looking at to understand these things. It is siginificant or anything, just some things to ponder.:)

This is synchronistic, I spent the day reading Stephen Laberge's book on lucid dreaming and remembered his Nova Dreamer mask. That prompted me to research different masks and I came across this one.
Then I get on this site tonight and this was the top thread!

mmmm
PIC16LF628A chip (pre-programmed) is the mos dificult part to make one without them, if they give free the hex its not dificult with a programmer or program the same logic in arduino(with 9v battery)
but the design is not very comfortable
in my opinion this can be redesigned to put the circuit in a table, mount the leds on glasses and connect with long and soft wires instead of put the ic and 2 litium batteries in the face
if there is a shortcut and you are sleep it can explode or leak in your face

not sure what i think about this yet - i know us military has a "machine"
that takes you to demonic realms and can bring demons back in 3d
so it should be possibe to make somthing that can assist you the
other way too :)
(ill stick with me crystals for now :D)

LOL!!!!!!!!
Good point.
Also, if you have the habit of turning on your stomach in your sleep that thing is done for. It'll end up in pieces or simply slip off your face.
I do remember the sleeping mask one as well. The idea is that in the middle of your dream the flashing light will manifest itself as say, lightning in the sky, or it will be like a film projector was suddenly turned on - cueing you to remember that you're dreaming.
There is another technique - you can make a recording, where the first hour or so is silent, and then an hour or two in, record a bell sound or something to cue you in your dream as well. However there is risk of it waking you up... or you will simply hear the sound in your dream and not really care.

I am new to this.
Can you please explain and tell me what this is about?
What kind of benefits do we get from listening to these frequencies?
Thank you. :)

Hmm, interesting. Does anyone know where you can get timers that you can set for several different times at once for the purpose Metacomet described?
