The population of the UK is expected to increase from 61m to 71.6m by 2033, according to the Office for National Statistics (ONS).
Just over two-thirds of the increase is expected to be related directly or indirectly to migration to the UK.
The population of pensionable age is expected to rise by 32% over the next 25 years.
If the projected increase materialises, the population will have grown at its fastest rate in a century.
Migration increase
The population is expected to rise by more than 10m in the 24 years between 2008 and 2029, less than half the time it took to rise from 50m to 60m between 1948 and 2005............

The Queen 'owns' most of Northern Scotland/Highlands.
I doubt this 71.6 million number. But there is so much land even in the uk plenty for 71.6 million. I doubt they can forecast with any accuracy to 2033 it just more bull for to plebs to swallow. There are lies, damned lies and statistics.

at the end of the day why should it matter AT ALL to any of us? It's realistically impossible to disprove any 'official' facts in these matters and as long as we accept it's very possible their estimates have no substance then we can carry on focusing on our business.

"Population growth will put greater pressure on our public services and increase competition for housing.
Protecting our environment and meeting climate change targets will become even harder. And unless it is handled properly, social cohesion will suffer," said Peter Madden, chief executive of Forum for the Future. I'm sorry, but this is a load of bollocks. more people build more houses, and build more public services. protecting our environment, what does that mean? what we need to do is get a government that stop immigration, not on a racist motive, but ask the question as to why people want to live in Britain. we must help people live in the country they were born in, have pride in were they were born. Travel by all means and live in areas were the human race is scarce, but stop over populating a little island and leaving other countries to turn to desert. Then there's enough room for everyone.
