I think there's 22
Free Mason is, one has to admit, an oxymoronic term, and although this society is an open secret one is often met with a deafening silence when some pretty ugly accusations are made. But almost exactly the same mistakes are made by those who are clearly confused about Freemasonry (and this would be seriously funny if it wasn’t really a tragic comedy). In their unbiased opinions Freemason do not act naturally, and are clearly hiding the truth as something is found missing in their answers. The exact estimate of numbers involved on either side are a constant variable, but when left alone together they make more noise than a peacekeeper missile. A lot of liquid gas. But this is old news. I’m typing this in Microsoft Works, and as I’m running out ideas, I think my only choice is to come to a rolling stop. Original copies of this are available in paperback.

In haste so I haven't got them all but the obvious ones are in bold. I particularly like the Microsoft Works example. :D

Good grief - a near miss!
Now I look at it, I'm not sure that either side qualifies?

Yep.
Wasn't much of a puzzle was it?
(But then better than the nonsense that's going on elsewhere on this forum)
hmmm!! I considered unbiased opinion and didn't really think it was an oxymoron.

Without getting into all sorts of philosophical questions about mans innate ability to be unbiased in any circumstance, I think, on reflection and in terms of this bit of fun, that you are right and it probably isn't.

Argghhh! Cheers agneau! You've given me a headache debating this one with myself. And up to now, I'm disagreeing with you guys. I think 'unbiased opinion' is an oxymoron.
Definitions of opinion on the Web:
define:opinion - Google Search
It kinda differs in different circumstances. If two people are arguing, have very strong opinions, and you are neutral, you can then give unbiased opinion on the subject.
If you are taking a different side of an argument, then of course your opinion will be biased.
So on further reflectiion it probably is an oxymoron in this instance as of course their opinion will be biased.

"if you are neutral" - now is that ever possible? Man being subject to emotions and self-interest must mean that in any case where an opinion is called for, then some part of him must have a preference - no matter how small or unrecognised - towards one side or the other?
I'm trying to think of an example of an unbiased opinion, and I'm failing.
Well, if you were friends with a couple who were having some problems, loved them both and could see both sides of the problem, you could give your opinion on the problems from a totally neutral position. If you were not taking a side, but could see both points of view, then anything you may offer would be (should be :D) unbiased.

Lol...
I don't believe we can ever be truly neutral. Our opinions are shaped/based on our own experience and perceptions.

That's the question.
And.. me too. So have you changed your mind again?

even neutrality can be broken down into - yes , no - right , wrong - hence not actually neutral but biased

I hear what you're saying and if only it was that simple. Can you honestly think of one occasion where you've been completely neutral? If I'm truthful with myself, I can't.

Not necessarily. That is assuming that you are giving advice. An opinion could be, "It is none of my business. You need to work through your problems and make your own decisions." That is not showing bias to anyone.
I don't do advice because 9 times out of 10 it will come back and bite you on the arse.

Well, I did say intially that in the context of the piece of fun I had in the OP it wasn't an oxymoron, but I had reservations about it on a deeper level. An unbiased opinion is accepted as superficially possible, although as we've discovered here thinking about it, there is really no circumstance that concious - or subconcious - preferences would not interefere. Even when refereeing between two equally loved foriends as postulate above - one would be loved a leeeetle bit more than the other..?
(Did I weasel my way out of a change of heart ok? :) )

Yes, I'm satisfied with your answer.
And I agree, there's always a bias, though sometimes it's so slight we don't even recognise it.
ps.. that's me trying my best to be neutral on 'that other thread' ;)
Yes I can :)

ps.. your first sentence doesn't make sense? - a bit of an oxymoron I'd say. :p:D
