I was a recruitment consultant for this money grabbing company, for about 4 months last year. I left in March 2006 and moved from the flat where i was living. Today my ex who is friends with the girl who lived below us in the flat, text me as there was a letter from addressed to me at the flat.

It has DEFENDENT written on the front so, i gave them permission to open it, apparently, they over paid $450 me last year and they are taking me to court to get the money back.

How can a multi million pound organisation really need $450 off me, someone who is struggling to pay bills and feed myself?

Does anyone know the law on this situation, i have looked on the Citizens advice bureau site, which states that if i was overpaid and not told at the time and have spent the money then i can argue my case, not sure what that means though.

I hope someone on here does know the law?

Incidently Reed Employment are so tight that the office christmas party cost $30 a head, was held in an expensive hotel and we also had to pay for our drinks all night and because it was in a hotel a pint was $3.50, so they are one money grabbing tight bastard company. I had never had to pay for an xmas party let alone the drinks too, just shows what a crap company they are, i am going to bad mouth them to every temp and HR person i know now, this takes the effin piss. I really dont need this at the moment, life just gets harder and harder.:(

Clear your mind. Open your heart. Just sit back and wait a moment.

First, give yourself about 10 minutes to rest and let all the information just settle down.

Second, realize that you do know what to do.

Thanks for the advice i am trying to, it's just hard. I know it's all an illusion and I dont let money usually worry me, as i live in my overdraft, which is money that the bank dont have either so that never gets to me, it's just this court thing.

What do i know what to do though? Not pay?

I can't afford to pay anyway.

ok, just contest it, it was their mistake. see citizens advice in person and youll get the best advice, man, just relax. worst case, (and I honestly cannot see it) is you pay it back at 2 pounds 42 pence per week... (times are tough your honour!! nice hat!!) .

youll be fine, in fact i think youll get away with it!!

hope this helps.

capatalist bastardos!!

oh, life just get's easier and easier...

Wait a minute. Something doesn't compute here. The cost for one single lawyer is $450 per hour. Include all the people from the company itself involved in this and we must add a lot of man hours. Just to start the lawsuit costs an obscene amount of money. So what have you done? No company would ever do something like this unless they were seriously threatened.

I've done nothing. It seems a bit odd to me too. I may well go to the papers about this though, so they will be threatened if the story gets printed. But then again what paper will really give two sh#ts?

Are they out to get me, to cause me to create more anxiety and depression to fuel the matrix?

As it seems as soon as i learn how to ignore those feelings from one problem another obstacle is placed in my way and it's been like that since i finished the Ininite Love book last March.

If it were me, I would ride it out and see how far they pursue it. The last thing I would do is worry over $450. Chances are they wont bother after a while. Fuck em.....

It seems a bit odd to me too.

Maybe it's not a lawsuit, but a demand for payment or whatever it's called. In Sweden we get such mails if we haven't paid a bill and not paid the 'reminder' bill either. A company can outsource this to a 'collector' company and it costs the company very little to do that, say $10 or even less.

I quite like sending debt letters back to the sender marked 'not at this address return to sender'

Amazing how some of them seem to disappear after that........
